Wanted: Shimano Dura-Ace 7-Speed Freewheel

Posted on
  • As the title suggests, I'm looking for one, preferably something like 12-21, or 13-24.

Cash, or I can trade a 6-speed Dura-Ace block in nearly new condition, or a couple of SRAM (Sachs ARIS) 12-21 8-speed indexed blocks which can also be reduced to a 13-21 7-speed by removing the 12t ring.

    Cheers,

    Roddy

  • I've recently posted a wanted thread on retrobike for the same thing which came up with nothing. After much research I ended up buying one of these:

They're not cheap, and you want to avoid the Mk1 & Mk2 versions because they had shed loads of problems, but this one seems to be well sorted. It appears a really well made bit of kit and is (allegedly) a copy of the old shimano freewheel you're looking for. It indexes well enough with my DA 7402 8 speed levers.

    Hope this helps

  • Incidentally, the Sachs Aris freewheel you have should be spaced the same as, or damn well near enough the same as Shimano, but without the wave pattern cogs to aid shifting. Check out Sheldon:

  • Thanks for that.

The Sachs is being used in an indexed setup, but I'd preferably like a wider range than 13-21 as I have a single ring on the front.
