  • Roolbg: Make sure it heals properly before putting much work on it. It's gonna be an agonizing long wait, especially if you are watching the game and trying your best not to hop onto the court. Not polo injury but busted - right ankle, left knee, left hip (blames young blood and mistimed tackles) and well travelled the road to recovery. Bracing it even after it has healed is a good way, and yes, once it is off, the possibility of it recurring always lingers.

  • List for tomorrow? I will be in early from work hopefully. Bringing a friend so can you bring an extra mallet Joni?

  • Yo, I'll come if there's 6, otherwise I'll go to the Velodrome meeting. Innit.

  • Good oh, another epic night at polo!
Konijn, could you bring that spacer for the loaner?

Random question, is any authorised to certify passport photographs?

  • Might be 7:30 until I can get there tonight, but will definitely bring a few spacers, no problem.

  • No worries. I'm always late anyway.

I might swap the stems out but they would be handy just in case! Cheers C.

  • I want to try again today, I'll come.

  • Should be there for 7pm.

  • arhhhghh would have loved to go!! But had no sleep for the last 24 hours so slightly giddy and thought i should skip this week.

going to try to get the small bike loaner so i can do some proper polo :)

  • Last night was really fun again, thanks for the bike loans Wicksie and City. Next week I'll try and be a bit more awake, totally zombied this week.

  • Okaaay, after a spate of bone (and ear) injuries, I'm going to suggest that people wear padding. Obviously it's up to you but a lot of people at polo wear some.

I'm also going to reiterate about bike safety and put my foot down on this. If you have exposed bar ends or exposed chainrings, then you will not be allowed to play.
Harsh but fair, there's a gruesome picture out there that shows why this is a good idea.

I've been using these pads for about a year and they've lasted and they're awesome.

  • ahh my landlord gave me an old bike i can fix up and its a nice SMALL (yes, SMALL ENOUGH) ladies bike so I am able to build up some sort of a polo bike soon! super duper happy, since i now realise that commuter bike CANNOT be a polo bike at the same time.

what do you mean by exposed chainrings? that means i need to cover them with those plastic bits? sorry i'm not too good with bike parts' names etc.

  • I mean that if you have a double chainring and you use the inner, then the outter is exposed. If you crash or someone knocks in to you, the the chain ring teeth can dig in to you and is very dangerous.
Most people have a single chain ring, and or a bash guard.
At a push, cover the outer ring with a spare chain all the way round and it should be fine.

  • ahh cheers joni i understand now. mine is fine. bike fixing commences on friday so hopefully in a week or two i will have a bike suitable for polo and will join you guys with my strange asian chocolates and what not.

  • Wear pads people!

Despite the lowspeed crash I had on Tuesday I found out yesterday I had an Occult Platella Fracture (a crack down the knee cap) and I will now be off the bike for 4 weeks. It could have been a lot worse if it had been a full fracture; 6 MONTHS off the bike and 4 weeks in traction.

So next week I am going to "JUST BUY" some pads. Cheaper than a 6month travelcard.

  • You can have mine after I get an upgrade.

    And 'patella'. ;)

  • Nah I'm pushing back the roadie build to spend moneys on polo.
