  • Just bought an overhauled Tandem frame,

    Fancy building it into a singlespeed with the typical fixie parts, outrageous colours, deep walls.....

    What do you Reckon???

  • I'm not sure..have you eaten all your dinner?

  • Cranks will be a problem as will chain tension

  • Do it, brakeless

  • as long as has fluro wheels it might work.

  • i has one.
    still overcoming financial/drivetrain/paint issues but it will be done.
    double spok?

  • don't expect to ride it brakeless or even with one brake.

  • brakless tandem, hahaha

  • where did you get those templates ?

  • cheers

    is that the same frame?

    Plus you is slow boy;

  • Some mentalist on here built this thing... iamrussel?

  • This took a hell of a lot of skill to balance...

  • Plus you is slow boy;

    no rear brake and cottered cranks. Smart mother fuckers.

  • I'm only concerned about the front rider's thighs, hitting those bullhorns every.fucking.rotation!

  • The stoker's also going to have a face full of ass.

  • While on the subject of tandems, why are the cranksets always installed the same way like in Fig. 1? I'd think that installing them at a 90 degree angle would help overcome the dead spot (Fig. 2). Will the bike become unstable if the two riders' movements aren't synchronised?

    People have experimented with different phasing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tandem_bicycle#Crank_phase but the conventional 0° phasing is the only one which really allows out of the saddle efforts.

  • Standing up on Swains lane on a tandem is hell on earth. Fast short hills out of the saddle are fine after a few miles but slogs are best done sat down in a silly low gear and sweat it out. Tandems are so much fun it's surprising more don't indulge.
    Granny gear ftw.

  • We are yet to master tandem pedal stomping.

  • Some of these look mint.

    Got some good ideas.

    Hadn't really thought it had been done before.....Although it has, and been done well.
