I guess this is my first "real" build - I've only owned a cheap 'n nasty beater prior to this. I've been collecting various bits and pieces for this for a year now, so getting the frame back from Armourtex (RAL6003 Matt, £69.25) was the catalyst for a weekend's fun putting it all together.
I usually would say no to the tyres, but on that it works. Sort of like some old school beach cruser/town bike vibe.
For the shifting on an upright bike like that, maybe try barend shifters? Also +1 to the idea of putting a light inside an old light. If you go back a few pages someone did that. Price-wise jumbles are better than ebay for vintage lights. Maybe you should try a dynamo hub and light combo?
