I combined a bit of geekery with a good ride yesterday... I'm preparing a course to teach iPhone App Dev and needed some geocoded "tourist" photos from around London so decided to get out into the sun and take my own!
Fantastic weather, millions of t-shirted Brits and tourists with coats and not too much traffic on the roads. Lovely (although I do wonder how many of those t-shirted Brits have colds today ;-) ).
Left home (a bit north of Kings Cross) at 13:30, headed off down past Euston, Aldwych, Fleet Street to Tower Bridge, over the bridge and down to City Hall where I took the compulsory "whip in the sun" photo, back over the bridge and along to the Embankment, Big Ben, Parliament, St. James Park, Buck House, The Mall (awful road surface even though it has no potholes), Trafalgar Square, Strand, Aldwych, Russell Square, Bedford Square, Euston and back home for a nice cold Efes in the sun :-)
I got the photos I needed to prepare my course, caught some sun and had a fun tour around - underlining for me the whole point of cycling in London: It's the easiest and quickest way to get around and to see the whole city and even better when the sun shines.
Next time I'll try to keep track of the distance...
