  • clefty.....put some liquid sugar syrup in with the cream, give it a little shake and then pour slowly against a spoon on top of the coffee.....sould work!

  • :)

  • Anyone got any recommendations as to decent coffee importers. I'm going to start roasting my own beans for a little project and I'd like to get a decent weight of green beans to experiment with and buying through one of my usual providers (hasbeen etc.. ) is a little too pricey. I've had a bash at trawling coffeegeek for ideas but frankly my ears started to bleed with the effort.

  • Picked up my new toy today

Needs plumbing in though so I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

  • cheers,

i thought i was going to buy a gaggia classic soon; friend of mine owns one, and i like it.
stumbled upon the isomac giada the other day, now i'm unsure what to buy.
or even invest a bit more and go for a rancilio silvia?

    any input would be appreciated.
(machine will be used for brewing 3-10 cups per day, milk is not a big issue as i'm allergic to it, as well as putting milk into coffee is blasphemy anyways).

    thanks!

  • Congrats to Bombcup for the safe pour of his eagerly awaited ristretto

Hope Mrs Cup and the bub are well - big congrats man!

  • Yup, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 cheers bomcup!

  • Congratulations BC.

On coffee related topic finally managed to give Dose on Long Lane a try, have to say I was impressed, coffee was very nice (although I think the prufrock has it beaten for my #1 spot based on recent trips) but the lovely young lady behind the counter was very friendly & knowledgeable, we had a bit of a chat about the appearance of some pretty decent coffee shops in the area and how it was cool that they all kind of co-exist rather than enter into fierce rivalry with each other. all in all an enjoyable caffeine experience and I'll be heading back again soon I'm sure.

  • Just swung by Monmouth at Borough for beans.. Took a taste of, and bought 500grm of the Bolivian Cafe Juana Mamani (espresso grind).. Fucking beautiful. Very bright top and a superb sweet, fruity after-taste which was still lingering in my mouth five minutes later.

    recommend.

  • nice one BC.

  • Can any of your Coffee freaks, recommend a good method for making Irish Coffee?
MOC is trying to perfect it at the moment, and can't get the cream to sit on top properly.

yes. use whipping cream in a metal cocktail shaker, shake hard and fast with two cubes of ice then slowly strain over the back of a spoon to float on top of the coffee

  • Congrats BC

  • Ever have too much and find it hard to breathe?

  • whoah. Drink less coffee dude.

  • yeah... that's when you're meant to swallow it.

  • think your supposed to drink it not put it up your nose!

  • Well I live on tea and lattes. Love them, but 5 shots worth of espresso, over a couple of hours, gives me this feeling of a heavy chest. Rubbish!

  • congratulations bombcup!

Good job. I can't get the woman who works there to say anything but the bare minimum to me. I don't begrudge it, as the coffee is excellent, but it's a shame as I'm in there a lot and would hate to think I had annoyed her or come across as a dick. Maybe we're not talking about the same woman though.

They've a book in there listing good coffee shops in London- have a look, it's pretty useful. It's not quite up to date, but not bad at all. Think it was published post-prufrock anyhow.

  • And, congratulations Bombcup!

  • Aaahhhh, thanks guys.

Seems you don't even need coffee to stay up for 36 hours. Who'd know?
