Haggle it down to £200 and you got yourself a perfectly decent bike that look like there's no need to tweak it.

guy said £240 and that's the end of it.

Hi, does anyone know if this will fit my peugeot? Do french bikes have different threads / I assume 68mm is the correct width? My original one is starting to make some funny noises and moves from side to side..
Thanks for any help.
Here is a rubbish phone pic of my bike at the moment, I admit that drops look 1000x better but risers are a lot of fun in the city. Getting some proper wheels sometime next week so I will take a few decent images then.

£5 less? hardly much of a haggle.
I wonder what's the likeihood of it being gone in a week by hipster willing to pay golden for peugeot.

Unlikely if its early eighties which I suspect. It's probably Swiss threaded (35x1 threads with left and right handed cups). If you are lucky it could be British threaded as Peugeot went through a transition in the mid eighties I believe. Swiss threaded stuff is rare but does come up on ebay occasionally.

Hmmm ok, I might have a go at rebuilding it then. Does anyone know what would cause it to move from side to side??

You might only need to adjust the left side cup if it's an older three-piece BB. Those decals are 80's. I'd guess english threads if you get stuck with fixing the old BB.
Regarding that 531 Peugeot a few photos up, it's not a bad price at all if you like things to be clean and original, assuming it runs well.

Most probably wear but it could have just come loose. If the bearing surfaces (races) are pitted they will need replacing. Please take a look at this link :http://cyclespeugeot.com/Threading.html where the threading is explained and also how to identify if you have Swiss threading or not.

Hello Edscoble.
I managed to fall off my peugeot racing bike today an bent by bars.
Can you suggest any good drop bars to replace the old ones with? I'm ideally looking for simplicity, lightness and style, but at not too much of a cost.
I've looked on freshtripe.co.uk but can't really tell which bars are good/bad etc.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I'm pretty much a novice in this area of drop handlebars.

Read thread with interest as I have just bought an old Peugeot myself. I believe it to be a PH8M model from 1981 (my best guess so far) based on the info here: http://mysite.verizon.net/vzerndgo/id64.html
It needs tidying!

Today..
I kept everything I took off so I could restore it, the only reason I converted was because I snapped the wheel in half.

Hi there,
Just got a Peugeot triathlon 501. Just wondering if the thread of the bottom bracket is English or French and also what size is it as I don't have the original.
Also has anyone got any suggestions as to a decent chainset between 30-40
Thanks -
• #650
I have one of those from the mid-eighties which is white and it has english BB threads and is a 68mm. I have been using a 110mm axle with a double chainset on it....
brakes hmm not sure..think maybe the same as bars or maybe suntour
70's or 80's? you think?
