Ouch.
Was it new 3 months ago?
Could have been laced up wrong - who built it?

Similar threads and posts seem to have a March start date. I suspect it has something to do with salt and aluminium getting on too well during the winter.

I've seen a few miche hubs do this, take it back to where you bought it...

bad hub.
happens plenty in MTB land, you take a hard landing, the rim might have a flat spot but secretly the hub starts tearing itself apart, and they typically go in a 'just riding down the street' kind of way (this also happens with cars, they don't blow up at the track, but whilst your slowly easing it down to a set of traffic lights cam belt snaps and engine totaled).

Miche happened.

miche aren't that cheap though. but yeah, i'll probably steer clear of their components on the future. The hub is actually being replace with an even cheaper hub (system EX), but one that is designed for road use (sealed). Might complain to Miche and see if they'll replace it, but as it was 2nd hand, no reciept etc, its doubtful.

Try googling hub flange failure and you will find loads of stories of different brands of hubs failing. Make sure you wheels are properly trued and tensioned. If all the tension is being handled by a couple of spokes it is only a matter of time until the spoke (or more unusually the hub) breaks.

How old were the hubs? When were they built? Who by? Warranty?

Arn't miche hubs sold as "proper" track hubs, not really designed for road work?
was about to set off for work this morning and noticed my back wheel not spinning properly and suddenly a spoke came loose. on closer inspection, the nondriveside flange of the hub has literally disintegrated in 2 places around the spokes!
see the pictures attached.
the hub is a miche primato. dunno what the spokes are. openpro rim.
Scary to think that i've been riding this around without issues (that i noticed!) for 3 months, right up to saturday!
Has anyone else had this happen to them? any idea why? do you think Miche will replace it if I sent it to them?
cheers,
Andy
