  • Very funny...

If anyone had posted tasteless jokes in a rider-down thread the 'community' would have rounded on them like a pack of dogs (think Paul-Michael) but in here where the tragedy is so much larger it's acceptable???

It seems to me that as a community we have far less empathy/sympathy for anyone not on 2 wheels. I just thought someone would have a better or more interesting view of why without reverting to the same old crap.

I'm just gonna throw it out there: I think in reality people don't care too much about anything but themselves but want to feel accepted by their peers (virtual?) so express what they believe to be the correct emotions in a rider down thread but show their true grit elsewhere. Fair?

Also is this the right thread for this? ^

  • Suggest a better one

  • My opinion is that it's as good as any other.

  • Isn't it a bit like discussing who's at fault in riders down threads?

  • Suggest a better one

    Bodeans Thread? Coffee Appreciation?

got to say i agree with you. i tend to stay away from rider down threads for just this reason.

  • From today's Insurance Day

Tepco, the operator of the stricken power station and a financially strong Japanese enterprise, has not bought any property insurance cover for its power stations since September 2010, reinsurance sources told Insurance Day. Instead, it opted to follow the BP model and retain the risk itself.

Given the publicity attached to BP's decision not to buy insurance, this is unbelieveable. The japanese Government will probably have to step in.

  • I dont know where to put this, but I wanted to share it... so here it goes, sorry if it is not not teh pkace or someone fell offended, tell meand if it is justifie I will take it donw

  • another 6.0 quake just hit shizuoka prefecture, they are now being felt a lot stronger on osaka which was previously unaffected.

  • Correction: No confirmed meltdown. Bad sources/translation.

Basically, theres radiation spewing out of *something... *Could be lots of things, not necasarily a meltdown or anything nearly as dramatic.

    It's all fucked.

4 cores are now in meltdown.

Radiation levels in Tokyo (220 kilometres from Fukushima) are at 2,000% times normal.

  • 2000% sounds more dramatic than 20 times

That was heart sickening, it almost as if the town was in the middle of the ocean.

  • Someone pretty much summed up my feeling about those 'prayer' bollocks;

Screw god and your useless prayers, use your freaking hands and excess money and donate to Red Cross. I hate religion so freaking much it burns in my veins. I donated to Red Cross, come on. I didn't pray to a magic-skydaddy. Get freaking real! Idiot.

  • The Japanese Olympic windsurfing team are keen, they've just arrived in Dover

You really are that guy, aren't you?!

+1, exactly! "magic skydaddy" is an hilarious expression!

  • This video shows how the 6 main TV stations reacted to Friday's earthquake.

Watch how at 3:00 the bottom left channel cuts to their empty news studio literally rolling from side to side.

  • Yoshie Murakami cried as she held the hand of her dead mother in the rubble near the spot where her home used to be.

The whole gallery... the scale of this is just mind blowing.
