PRICE DROP !
Need to move this so I include the PD-A 550 pedals with cages in this deal plus spare tubular tires.
This is not a junk frame, I've shown it to a few people and it is believed it was made by Kessels who also did work for Merckx back in the 70s. I have a Dutch "Snel" Roadbike that has a very similar frame.
so 125 GBP with pedals included or best reasonable offer - shipping excluded

that is a great deal for a nice "beater" bike. i think its a better than a beater bike though
-
• #11
Assuming its authentic, which I slightly doubt looking at the pics. But either way I need a beater to ride to work so this seems a good idea.

don't think it's a "MERCKX" but it must be a Belgium frame ... really believe this to be a Kessels..

had a mistake in the original listing so here it is again:
Up for sale is this " Eddy Merckx" 1970s beater roadbike
seat-tube 57cm c-c
top-tube 55.5cm c-c
pictures can be viewed here :

First of all let me start by saying that have no idea what this bike really is ! It came from Belgium and I'd strongly suspect it to be a Kessels frame.
It has Reynolds 531 and Eddy Merckx Molteni era decals but I doubt they are original. But since the bike looks great with them I never peeled up to see whats underneath.
Anyway, its a cool bike however its too small for me to keep it.
So here are some details:
Tubular rims on Normandy hubs, tires needs to be replaced soon
I'll throw in some extra tubulars (Wolber etc.) used but still great.
Huret front and rear derailleur, shifters and cable guides
Mafac Competition brakes and brake levers
Benotto bartape
crankset has been changed to Shimano in the 80s(?)
pedals are not included but I have a pair of Shimano PD A 550 that can be had for an add. 10 GPB
so to make it short its a cool bike to use as is, make it a Fixie or SS but don't expect it to be a genuine Merckx or Reynolds bike ok ??!!! I cannot verify this therefor I only ask 130 GPB for it.
Payment could be made with Paypal or a Money wire to my Bank account.
Shipping is from Germany, 40 GBP to most European places
