No, I'm angling more towards the decisions being made by/ agendas being promoted by informed, intelligent people. The MP in the original post should know about manufacturing, or talk to a party member who does.
It's not exactly the fault of the MP that the public decided to elect him to parliament even though he doesn't know anything about manufacturing. If anything that's a failure of the ignorant proles who elected him based on their own short-sighted constituency requirements.
