not gonna make it onto the track for the second week in a row, building my tub wheels at diggers wheelbuilding class over the weekend, so they will hopefully be on the bike when I finally get to the track NEXT WEEK!!!

Was a good session today.
TS did actually turn up... Rapha'd up to the nines an' all. -

Nightmare riding with the beginners tho'... Bunching up on the back straight? No, thanks... Which is why I fucked off sharpish, coupla close calls was enough for one day... Idiots... I only got about 15mins in, if that! :[

^Yes. It was good. I felt stronger too.

Enjoyable. Wasn't sure if the wind was picking up or I was wearing out, but still got some fun out of it.

Agreed. I actually had to do a little skid to avoid colliding with the person in front at one point. How to people find it so hard to ride at a constant speed?

I ended up sneaking an extra 20 laps in with the novice session after the intermediate session.... the stop/startiness is unavoidable when windy, you will aleays hit a headwind on the back straight.... you should know this by now Joe!
Also, you should never be skidding on the track..... don't ever let a coach see you do that.
I thought the pace at the end of the novice 20 lap roatation i snuck in on was fair, there were a couple of fellas with a half decent pace at the front... one of the bastards pipped me at the line on the last lap too!

^Hah! I was considering doing this to boost track time, but in the end hunger got the better of me and I headed off home :(

• #1237
BTW I got home and found that the faceplate on my Thomson stem has cracked... WAC... Probably just as well I didn't stay out on the track any longer... :S

How the hell did you manage that!?!?

The novice training is a tough session and is never going to be super smooth. Many riders have only just been through (and passed) their induction, so track training is new to them. Add the strong wind in the back straight and I thought that on balance it all went pretty well today.

Thats the point I was making. I think the wind played a big part in the flow of the group.
I thought it was a pretty smooth session, considering the size of the induction group! -

...and it's only March!

I enjoyed today, seemed easier than last week, but maybe that's because my bike had a better gear.
The only part i found annoying was during the 'single file' on the black line exercise - the group seemed to be all over the place. Other than that it was pretty cool.
Weather was awesome too. Nice and bright.

I think Henry's answered that question for me...

Well that was fun, was only in the beginners session as it was my first time but it was pretty good. I get what you mean about the back straight/bunching up, was a bit annoying but wasn't too bad if you were nearer the front i found.
Will definately be going back for more!

I didn't think it was that windy actually... It was difficult to get comfortable out there with all the new inductees around, it's hard for someone like me who isn't a beginner but who also isn't fit/experienced/confident enough to go in with the intermediates... I just wanted to get a few laps under my belt but it wasn't to be today... And my bars are too narrow, I need to go up from 40s to 42s, and steel not aluminium... They are bendy as fuck...

Often due to uneven bolt torque i.e. installation error.

Your fault then Joe :)
Sounds like it was good this morning. Was lovely weather for it -

enjoyed today.
Shame the road miles I've put in over the winter doesn't seem to have transferred itself over to the track as much as I'd have liked - once Flanders is done I think it'll be onto the track drills for me
Cheers to Coach John for the words of advice, much appreciated

none of those trackies could handle 90 hilly miles and the cobbles. :-)
Oh, I'll beat you alright... I just don't wanna put myself in a wheelchair for the foreseeable...
