• Its quite funny when I head out (albeit rarely) on my commute on a nice racer and lycrad up. It does seem to make people want to race you sometimes. I find it funny because on days like today, I'm deliberately pootling with my legs spinning but not travelling quickly as I like to do that the day before a long ride. It seems to loosen me up and get any heaviness out of my legs from the previous days of quicker fixed commuting. I'm riding a 110mi route to Woodbridge tomorrow to see my parents for lunch.

Just because I'm on a decent racer doesn't mean I'm out to race.

Doesn't seem to matter whether the person is on a beater, hybrid or a full carbon super bike. Sometimes people just like to show off. I couldn't give a toss personally how quickly other people ride when I'm out..I'm there for me and nobody else.

One slightly out of shape chap today made me laugh. He was on a full carbon TT bike (didn't spot make) and as he came up behind me he went into full sprint, looking me in the eye as he passed. I didn't take the bait. I let him pass, kept my pace until he tired (not long) and then stayed on his back wheel until I got near home and gently eased past him whilst he was still open mouthed and breathing heavily being sure to give him a nice non sweaty closed mouth smile on the way past. Could have sworn the bike was way too big for him too.

Shit...that makes me as bad as him doesn't it!
