• I don't understand why people wear lycra on the commute to be honest.. You're only going to work. I guess commuting is serious business.

    it make sense if your commute is long (says 10 miles).

    If you like to take it easy, then a 10 miles commute will take you 60 minutes with your normal everyday clothes, even a suit.
    Whether for those who enjoy riding their fast road/fixed wheel bicycle, their commute is usually 45 minutes, maybe less if you can try.

    lycra make the commute more comfortable despite looking silly to just go to work (in comparison to suit taking the tube, buses and cars).

    The other reasoning is that other make their commute as their training ride to make up for the lack of time they have to do some training, so when you're racing against a lycra'd up cyclists, you're doing him a favour.
