For fancy road stuff, Birmingham city cycles at the custard factory is probably best. They mainly have love for people with more money than sense, but will sort you out with all manner of of friendly service if you are flashing the cash. The Aussie bloke that runs it has his own little weeken club run which he invites people he likes too. Rather snobby carbon-roadie affair though. I remember him practically throwing me out the shop when I said I rode fixed "would you like to leave now sir".
Its one of the few bike shops ive come across, which seems happy to let you buy a new OTP bike and then let them keep parts you dont like in exchange for discounts.
