  • Right,
i gots me a problem, (TL;DR is a the bottom), wall of text alert.

About i purchased a frame from a member of this forum,
looks like a good deal, my size decent colour blah blah, so i arrange to go over to check it out.

I happen to choose a day where its pissing down so am absolutely soaked by the time i get there, meet the sellers younger brother who came to do the transaction, im told the cranks and BB will have to be removed myself if i didn't want to have to pay for them.
So i'm there, soaking wet, it pissing down, having to remove a pretty seized crankset and BB from a frame, with bare hands (i applied some HTFU to get over it).
So now i'm checking over the frame, i was told it only had two small dings on the top tube, but i could barely make them out. By this point id been there for about 30 minutes trying to remove this shit from the bike and was pretty naffed at the fact i hadn't been offered atleast a nearby bus shelter to do this under, so i just take it and leave.

The next morning arrives and take the opportunity to properly check the frame, sit down, dry off anything still on it, and there are the dings, easily spot-able, as well as the several others on the down and seat tube. This i was willing to get over, if it hadn't have been for the dings in the headtube covered by the TFG sticker, oh, and the busted headset rattling away, oh and also the bent dropout, not to mention the compressed paint under the headtube cluster as a sign of a front impact.

I asked multiple times if the bike had been used for FGFS, was told no, even though it was built up as one. My question is, should i be angry?, do i have the right to ask for my cash back even though i purchased it knowing it had defects? i feel ripped off, but then again i feel quite responsible for having handed any money over without first properly checking the frames integrity. I've asked the seller to take the frame back, or even if possible to refund SOME money (like a tenner) just to cover the cost of the busted headset.

TL;DR - Bought frame, was lied to (or mislead) about condition and use, want money back or at least minimal refund to replace dodgy part, multiple messages about the situation, now getting the cold shoulder after i was told i could have a refund or that it would be "sorted".

His PM claims it was sold to him in this condition and that he didn't know, i asked him how he can be sure that HE didn't cause this damage and that if he knew it was there when it was sold to him why on earth he failed to mention it in his selling of the frame.

The seller takes atleast 24 hours to reply even though he is constantly online, funny how when i was buying it, a response took no longer than an hour
