i just bought a frame and the guy claimed it was a 25.6 seattube
however since trying a 25.4 one i had lying about, it doesnt fit
i have tried to find one smaller online but all i came up with was a 22.2 laidback one for a bmx
what can be done? -
• #41707
measure what size it is?
-
• #41708
Measure it with the vernier calliper you keep handy for such occasions. If it's a little under 25.4, there's a good chance it's 25.0 but there's no point buying a post until you're sure what size you need. What frame exactly? We can probably tell you the correct size from the make/model of frame.
-
• #41709
i would assume roughly 25, as the 25.4 could fit with alot of force
im goign to borrow some tomorrow
but i cant find any 25 mil seatposts though -
• #41711
thanks but i need a longer one if you know where i can find one

Kalloy make 25.0 posts, also sold under various generic brands such as System-X, KF, etc., usually available in 350 or 400mm length and black or silver, the R-Type design illustrated is the best, but they also do a Laprade type.

Got together stuff I had in shelves, not being used, my Missus frame (which she's not using atm),
and surprisingly the whole thing is around 5kgs (no chain, bathroom scales)...
I know it may not be exaclty that.. but it's stupidly light. I'm shocked.
Just need a chain and see if it stays under 6kgs.

steel fork and around 5kg?

3ttt Chrome Pro without labels maybe? Guessing here, but you can get them for a nice price.
i also think that's a 3ttt Chrome Pro Eclipse. I had one and it was very similar to that one. It was very light

In response to Nuknow's 'parts-bin' bike, I will set to work tonight on a bike built from my parts 'box', which comprises 2 saddles and a rear caliper.
Photos in 6 months.

Headset has arrived, but I haz no tools, and no monies. Gonna have to try and borrow some tools/wait til the weekend to put the new fork etc on the GT! LONG!

I took out my old headset with a spanner, a broken chain whip and a hammer. And put in the new headset with just a hammer and a table leg.
-
• #41723
and there i was thinking installing a headset with a black and decker workmate was ghetto
-
• #41724
I had to go buy the spanner because unscrewing the threaded headset was a little too hard for the 2 allen key method I used to get it half way.

hmmm i might just get ghetto then...worried about messing up the carbon steerer is all...
so I've got the box attached to the trike frame finally. Have been waiting 4 weeks to get the time to do it. No pics at the mo but I'll take some tomorrow.
I need a bit of input for the handle bars. The normal ones can be seen in this picture
they attach to the box, and look a bit like shopping trolley. I think they're pants.
My plan is get a pair of these
and chop them above the bottom bend and then attach them either facing inwards or outwards (not decided). If I do this (please tell me if you think it insanity) then would it be acceptable to simply drill holes through the bottom part of the tubes and bolt them to the steel corners of the box (2 holes and 2 bolts for each bar). Another slightly trickier way would be to get some sort of clamp to bolt to the box and then hold the bar but I'm not sure if this would be better or what clamp to use. A conundrum.
After this all I'll need is miles of brake cable and I'll be off!
