  • Actually this has set me thinking. I'm planning on going to China in a couple of months. Would there be any demand for me taking the Lauterwassers and getting some modern copies made? Or any other vintage parts someone may have....

Just a thought at the moment.

lol, you think china is full of factories desperate to make you 5 handlebars.
Bicycle manufacturing for export isnt very big in china anyway, you were probably thinking of taiwan. China makes, electric bikes, kids/toy bikes and traditional bikes for home. But all of these would be in millions of units.

If you want a few handlbars made you are better of looking at a small fabricators in the UK.

For example, archie wilkinson (just outside brum) makes these very small run and sells em £18 each, anodised in nice colours.

  • very comfortable, if i may just add.

  • dont SOMA make similar things?

  • the soma ones don't have the sexy curves that fold back around

    they are nice however

    maybe I should bend some?
fill them with sand cork the ends and heat!

(sorry for the piss poor quality)

  • (Reviving an old thread) Are these what you're looking for?

I have no idea who made them but they look like Lauterwasser bars. They came off an Olympic track bike that had the best of the best (Dura Ace "10 Pitch" drive gear, Cinelli steel stem with orig painted badge, Campag Sheriff hubs, Assos Pedals....etc) so when I took off the bar tape off I was curious where it came from so I went to my friend google and here we are.

The dia. for the stem is 23.8mm, everywhere else is 22.2mm, the drop is approx. 15cm, overall width (c-c) 46cm.

Sorry for all the pics but it was really hard to photograph and capture the true shape of the bars.

    So who made these ?:
