  • I have managed to do something to my hackintosh build and it is failing to boot properly. After the i7/apple logo the monitor goes in to sleep mode but the computer stays running. I just followed a tutorial to build my hackintosh and don't know enough to troubleshoot the problem. It happened after pulling out an external hard drive which cut the usb soundcard and after restarting, this happened.

I've tried lots of different things but to no avail. I know it's my fault for building a computer I don't know how to fix but if there's anyone who knows a lot about this sort of thing, I'm more than happy to pay for your time to help me fix it. I can't do anything with out my computer and can't exactly go to the apple store to ask for help.

  • Took me weeks and weeks to get one of these going. Turned out that it was a typo in the installer that was causing problems. Good luck.

Without many more details it will be impossible for people to help. Laptop/desktop? Model numbers? Build of OS X being used etc etc. It's a fairly techy thing to do.

  • Yeah I'm not really in the right mind for trying to fix it, I haven't been to sleep and have just been stressing about it. It only took me a couple of days to get everything working properly about 6 months ago but have forgotten everything I learned then.

It's an i7 950, was overclocked to 4ghz. asus p6x58d-e motherboard 6gb ram running osx snow leopard 10.6.4 Will post more info after finished dinner

This has potential to be 'most exciting thread ever'......

  • I'd try some of the Google Groups or some of the specific forums rather than here.

  • yeah that's where I learned to do it from a tutorial, I was just hoping someone locally (being london n all n i'm guessing few computer whizzes on here) might be genius enough to be able to sort it for me quickly n make some money in the process, i'm sure i'll figure it out in the end

  • Maybe try flickwg (seb) I know he built a hackintosh...

  • I could probably fix it for you, I've built a few, but to be honest I don't have the time I'm afraid.

What are you using to boot it? Chameleon works best in my experience. What kexts are you running? It's all a lot simpler if it's fairly vanilla and you're not running many.

  • I don't remember really, it was all fairly simple and vanilla sounds right? gonna have to start researching again
