if you always wear a belt get a hefty mini d-lock that will offer some decent protection (mini evo or faghettaboudit mini as already stated) and a fabric belt holster a la the fabric horse type ones.
it's the simplest solution and is actually quite comfortable. I ride with both of the aforementioned locks on my belt and hardly tell they're there after a minute or two.

already got the fah' and a fabric horse holster, but i have to ride a bit slower because it shakes when i pedal fast, maybe its little brother is a bit better but still would prefer something around my shoulder
i do use the fah' and the holster if i'm just riding to see mates or what ever so ill be leaving it longer
but its just for riding around the towns here, some shops don't have proper bike rack things so i have to use lamp posts or signs, only small towns so its quite safe

If you pedal with control the lock should not be shaking about.
Work on your core strength.

maybe get a stronger belt. mine's solid as a rock when I ride. even during the occassional out of the saddle sprint from the lights. so much so I sometimes check it's still there just in case it fell out and I didn't notice.
really it sounds like you have a case of lock n+1 :D

It shouldn't shake when you pedal fast, I have the same set-up (abiet the holster were designed for the Evo Mini), and it was fine, HatBeard's recommendation of a better belt is sound too, as cheap Tesco quality belt are pretty weak, especially when they bend out of shape.
I pay a reasonable money for a decent belt (£40 reduced from £80) 4 years ago and it's still pretty strong.
if you're still concern about weight and size, the best solution I find with my expensive road bike is an Evo Mini and an alarm lock (designed for motorcycle's disc brake);
Mine fit the BMW Gangsta oversized downtube pretty well, if anyone even remotely touch it, it'll create an ear-shattering alarm that can damaged your ears if you listen to it for a prolonged period of time.
The downside is that it's probably not idea on a bicycle rack that someone else might want to use.

I know people who actually do reach speeds of 25mph (not just guess that they are "well quick"), the wobbling will be a technique issue (ie poor pedalling) and possibly belt strength.
Also, just need to check you don't dress like a wannabe hip hop gangsta with your trousers below your ass.

obligatory UTFS disclaimer
I've had a look and can't see a dedicated thread so here seems sensible.Does anyone know when these guys might get up and running or if they are any good?
I think they had a display at the cycle show. I'm attracted to the range of parts that you can secure. If the pricing was right, I'd be more than happy to protect as much of my bike as possible.

well i tried moving it about from right on my side so half is like on my pocket or right around the back, and i got a decent enough £25 leather belt from topman(uncle chose it) and that seems decent enough
but as i said most the time its fine, still want something much lighter and more out the way, but i guess ill just keep looking and find one myself...

Looks like pitlocks or similar
If made by Cliff at Royce they should be good.

Have you thought about using the frame mounted lock holders that come with every lock?

there isn't one available that will take the mini fagh (that I've been able to find at least)

Topman isn't exactly 'quality' for a decent belt, as a decent one does cost more than that.

Site Boss praise them as a good alternate to the Pitlock, and they do look good, worth checking out IMHO.

I did mentioned (as well as other) an alternate - the Evo Mini lock paired with an disc brake alarm lock, they're very light together and a good combination.

....so i can't use a mini D lock, even if i lock up the wheels some one could just pick it up and walk away with it, which is why i said a chain or cable

Okay, if your area is pretty lacking when it come to bike crime (compare to London) and use your 'beater' as your everyday bicycle, this look should be plentiful; Abus Steel-o-Flex;
Not recommended for London though as it's easy to cut with an angle grinder/ bolt cutter, but with a beater that doesn't look worth nicking, it would be fine.

• #1045
well here i guess in a way i'm lucky, one side is country side the other is pretty "urban" where there is bike crime, not as bad as london but still pretty bad, but if i go to the country side area after about 5 miles all i pass is small towns and little village shops
that lock is quite expensive, i'm looking myself but all the cheaper chain locks are to short to wrap around myself and cables are hard to judge
i guess not many people plan on doing what I do, ill keep looking

Good lock does cost money, and it's worth the peace of mind at time.
just get a Kryponite Evolution Series 4 lock and mount it on the bike instead.
The Evo Mini is fine with certain lamp post and sign, I used it myself too, as for the wheel, just get a front one with quick release and replace the skewer with the security one.

well depending what i'm doing, i have a fah' D lock and oxford chainlock, usually my lil cables for the hell of it
most the time its my fah' usually in my holster
one of these below would do great, but i need at least 100cm to fit around me, prefer 110, but that dose not seem to exist

I'm looking for an alarm chainring lock.
I've looked at the Xena XZZ6 (oversensitive,, weak keys?), Kabrus XL802 (battery muncher) and some of the other disc locks (Oxford and ebay Chinese clones).
I've also looked at the Kabrus XL505 alarmed padlock.
I'm kinda leaning towards the XZZ6, but the key situation is a big negative for me.What is the current recommendation for an alarmed lock?

No.
Fah Mini or Evolution Mini would be your choice.
