  • Would be intrigued to hear your thoughts on these pedals.

My first thought is that I paid too much for them, as they are just rebadged and different coloured Wellgo WPD-M17, available for £29.95 on ebay

Riding impressions to come when I've looked through my shoe cupboard and found something which either has Shimano SH-51 cleats or can be fitted with the Token/Wellgo ones

  • Or you can get one without the flat for £19.99.

  • Mine arrived arrived yesterday, had the headset fitted today and (baby dependant!!!) would like to crack on with the build this evening, pics to follow!!!!!

  • OK, my BB tool is just not going to work, maybe should have had the BB shell reamed (?) 1st????
Secondly, really need to cut the steerer tube down, and finally just realised that I have never owned or worked on cantilever brakes before!!!! Ah well if it doesnt work I have an old set of deore v brakes from my first in-bred.

So 1st thing tomorrow off to my mates bike shop!!!!! Shame I thought I might be able to try it out tomorrow, especially as a very good day promised!!!!

  • reamed (?)

Chased and faced is what you want.

  • mdcc_tester - thanks, yeah I think that was it. Anyway, all done, bike ready to be finished, rode it home today from my friends shop, 1st impressions very good.

BTW do I need a pics website to show pictures?

  • ..................and maybe take a better pic!!!!!!

  • Has anyone got one of the glow in the dark pompinos?

  • I've got a GITD Pompetamine, what's the real question?

  • Just wondered how much it really glowed. I'm thinking it would be fun for my next polo bike!

    Pretty subjective question, sorry.

  • Mine has the glow in the dark paint - will just pop out to check if it glows or not............................!

  • Doesnt really glow, but then I have heard it needs some UV light first as well, and frankly mine has been indoors all day!

  • You get a bit of a glow if you leave it under fluorescent lighting, but daylight is best. It's only ever going to be an ethereal glow rather than a shining beacon, in London there is so much artificial illumination at night that I'd be surprised if anybody could even tell it was supposed to be GITD.

  • really happy except the paint is shit, comes off at slightest knock.

I completely concur with this, having ridden mine 3 times and finding a few random chips and also some scratches from locking up with other bikes a couple of times.

  • done...medium pompino...
    mavic rims/novatec hubs
    hope stem, spacers, seatclamp
    acros ah-01 headset
blb pista vera 165 cranks 46t
    halo 19t cog
    kmc gold chain
    nitto randonneur bars
    cane creek levers
    tektro rx5 mini v brakes
    cinelli seatpost
    velo saddle
mks pedals, all city clips and straps
2 € chain tensioners of unknown origin
...need to get used to the v brakes since they bite different than road calipers but the ride is smooth...

  • ^i just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

  • haha that excited ;-)

  • 2 € chain tensioners of unknown origin

Oh cool. Didn't know such a thing existed..

  • huh??

  • I am having difficulty getting my head round attaching the brakes sent with my bike. They are Tektro Oryx and 1st I didnt receive the canti brake holder for the front! so I have tried putting some Deore brakes on, but where can I fit the little bit to help tension the brakes as I am using roadie brakes (does that make sense?) Plus on the rear there is a piece on the frame to fit the tensioner but mine doesnt seem to fit. Need to see some pics to see how they fit/work!!

  • Some of you are pretty brave with your colour choices. I just played it safe with black and white.

  • Just added mudguard and rack on my dad's Pompino.

    48/18 gearing a touch high but usable (48/19 on fixed);

Been riding it around lately (needed to go into work to fit the mudguard), was pretty fun and relaxing to ride with a freewheel, I now know how Josh feel.
