and, although i encountered a few carbon snobs (no one rides anything but Harleys north of Orlando, and south of Orlando, everyone does triathalons on Cervelos), there were one or two who had some nice things to say about a nice old bit of dutch steel.
all in all, a pretty sweet trip. especially if you're not into hills and don't mind getting cozy with a fair amount of oversized traffic.
in key west now, rather unbelievably, at a youth hostel. must be twenty years since i last did that. but 'motel' rooms are $200 and up...
don't suppose anyone is in the vicinity and fancies a quick burn up the west coast? :)
have to say thanks again to Rih, first for holding on to the bike for me for six months and then shipping it to Daytona. must be the only Batavus for five hundred miles.
