got the DZR's through saturday morning, very happy with them, just tried them on and walked round the house, forefoot feels nice and stiff, and the hightop bit, covering the ankle, which I thought was going to be padded and a bit bulky, is actually quite thin, so won't be restrictive when I'm pedalling.
First impressions are two thumbs up so far. Looking forward to using them on the bike, in the next couple of weekends when the weather gets better.

which cleats you using with them, and do they touch the floor?
-
• #281
I've got some Shimano cleats on my DZR's and had no problems with them clipping the floor. After 6 weeks riding with them the only problem is that your feet can get pretty cold on longer rides this time of year and they aren't very waterproof. Small things really! Overall they're great! Better looking than the 661's and better performance.

Has anyone used these before?;
Shimano SH-MT22 Multi-use touring shoe

They look nice in the photo (which attracted me to seek them out in a bike shop) but not so great in the flesh. And the leather feels hard and cheap. Not a scratch, comfort-wise, on the (much more expensive, Gore-Tex-lined) MT60.

Hey, does anyone know off-hand if there are any physical shops that stock the DZRs? Condor?
-
• #285
you might get some at shop 14 as they stock mission bags and stuff.

Good call. Thanks, n3il.

They don't look as frumpy as those Mission ones.
-
• #289
Probably stiffer and better than a Mission one.

Unharmed, as far as I know always riding website are the only uk stockists at this point of the dzr's, shop 14 will have the mission workshop rondel's which are a collaboration with dzr.
But always riding have limited stock think they are seeing what the demand is before they pull over a big order.. I'm waiting on some new cleats to get to me so will be wearing mine next week and will update people. -

Thanks, Cornelius. I thought something like that may be the case. Out of interest, how do the DZRs come up size-wise from what you can tell?

I have had these Adidas Cyclones for about three years now and been using pretty much every day commuting plus a few longer rides to Brighton, Portsmouth etc. Must've done a fair few thousand kilometers by now.
They still work perfectly despite a few scuffs but still feel solid.
They have all the protection from the elements of an SPD sock, which is a bit shit in the winter or the rain but nice in the summer.
If you do consider buying, particularly online, i found them to be a bit on the small side so consider going a size up...

@ unharmed they seem to size up quite normally, not like sidi's which come up a size small. I usually take a 43/44 in normal shoes/trainers went for the 44 figuring I'd rather they were a bit too big than a bit too small, and they came in perfect. Sent an email to always riding before I purchased discussing sizing and they said if it was the wrong size they'd swap them over and I'd just have to pay the return postage, and that paying the return postage was somethng they hoped they could eliminate.
@ sumo ma3k has a how to thread here somewhere about butchering an SPD shoe with a skate shoe, with step by step instructions and photo's. Useful if you can find it...

Yeah that's where I got the idea. Very straight forward though. The shoes are currently drying. I need to buy some new cleats now though, this will be my 3rd pair of clipless shoes.

What's the verdict on the Kursks?
-
• #298
Great, been commuting on them for a week now. Soles are suprisingly stiff and overall the performance on the bike is great, especially if you do the laces up tight. The cleat recess is deep enough to make sure the cleat never hits the ground when walking. This does however make the shoe look a bit odd as the tread on the front of the shoe is quite thick. The quality of teh shoe is super tough, definately get the impression that they will last a long time. They have these nice think insoles as well which makes them pretty comfy. Little nice touches as well like a show lace garage (piece of elastic to took laces into) and a sutle reflective strip at the back. Very pleased with them to be honest.
