Well, my comment above definitely hit a nerve with Prancer and his alt, thanks for the multiple neg rep there buddy.

He's trying to shut you up...keep it all real hush hush like...then BAM! He's the only one on the forum able to trade. Captive market and all that. I love capitalism.

I've probably just started a war with the 'tard but what the fuck ever.

Not sure I get this - been on here over a year, sold a good bit of stuff, never had any issues but should be "treated with caution"? WTF?

Try making a few puns and posting some pictures of crumble and you'll be fine.

I though maybe we could be a healthier forum for 2011.

If any regulars are having this problem... just ask for some rep... the system is new and it's only because people don't know to leave feedback that you haven't yet had enough to make a difference.
I just left a few bits of rep for you, and already you're Cat 3, a couple more from other people and you'll be Cat 2.

Cheers - that explanantion makes more sense than the one I read earlier, suppose we need to see how it beds in over time.

Clarification please.
PMing with James/Prancer this morning he said that only rep received on the Classifieds forum goes towards rep displayed on the Classifieds.
I am of the opinion all rep received anywhere in any thread is displayed on the Classifieds, and only displayed on the Classifieds.
Can't find definite proof either way. -

That's a big neg. Rep is rep.
-
• #63
Could I make a suggestion given I am a world champ but barely trade perhaps this needs a little tweaking.
Could the trader rep solely be based on rep received in the classifieds section?
Otherwise I can see nerg wars starting.

Looks like we were posting simultaneously.
After your pm I checked my status and was shocked considering my scant trading history. -

If this is going to be of any significant use then I think there should be varying degrees of neg rep, a scale of some sort. For example, if an item turns up late and someone decides to neg rep the seller as a result, then that’s not comparable to someone with a more genuine gripe that receives something in very bad condition when it’s claimed as not being on its sale thread, or an item which is simply not what has been advertised at all. All of these things can and do happen, and to not be able to sufficiently punish the seller in the case of the more serious examples isn’t an adequate enough use of the neg rep system or the ability of a buyer to express their valid dissatisfaction in these instances.

It has always seemed to me that a large proportion of the the rep thrown around is for jokes or being sarcy. It would be easy for a member who just makes sensible helpful comments and sells things to have a worse rep than someone who makes amusing comments on lots of threads. I don't think this is a good idea unless it is made clear on every sale post that the rep is not just for selling but for forum posts too. Without this it is misleading, and with this it renders the system useless. Hence, this may not be a useful system
