MTB or Road shoes?
-
• #3
I don't really have a preferance just looking for a decent shoe as i want to change over from straps to clips.
-

could do some Triton velcro strap road shoes for not a lot, plastic soles but for a £5 er plus post what do you expect?
I think you need to be sure whether you want road shoes to skate about in on the pavement, or MTB shoes to walk slightly reasonably in - that dictates the pedals you'll need. Depends on the riding you do too.

Yes you are right on further thought i think MTB shoes are going to be a better bet for me as I just use my bike to commute to work go to the shops etc and not for any kind of racing etc.

i've got some mbt. they're pretty racked but you've wecome to have them if you can cover the coasts of postage. i'll try and dig them out if you fancy?
-
• #7
I was after a pair in fairly good nick if possible, but thanks for the offer.

they'd be ok to try out though- from there you'd be able to make informed decisions on what you like/don't like - laces or velcro etc
And with clipless there's always the fallyoffy malarkey to contend with - like shit, it happens, and you wouldn't want to mess up some good shoes with scuffs......
-

Yes thats true but the more i now i think about it mtb is going to be better for me and also regards to scuffs etc I have taken chunks out of a number of vans riding fixed so that was another reason going clipless as i wanted a pair of shoes that are designed for riding and getting wet etc.

Are they size 7 or 8 uk?
-
• #13
They say 42 (8) but most cycling shoes come up small, I usually take a 7 1/2 and these were snug on me. definitely closer to 7 than 8. If you're in London you're welcome to try them first.
-
• #14
I have the same in 43 (should suit size 7 or a small 8) if you fancy, only tried them on to realise they are too small for me!
-
• #15
They are UK 6.5 rather than 7 but wondering if these http://www.lfgss.com/thread59945.html are any good to you?
-
• #16
Hey big ted they look nice i am definitly a size 7 but im based in hackney and if you are not to far away i can always come and try them on.
-
• #17
I'm in Hereford so I guess trying them on isn't the easiest. Is there any way of measuring them to get an exact size that might help?
-
• #18
measure the outer sole length? Maybe the inner sole same?
ps try very long arms..... ;-)
did you know the eg 42 stands for 42 Carob seeds (same as Carat [same thing] too for weight) as all these seeds are exactly the same size so were used as measures. Its most unusual for something in nature to be exactly the same every time.
-
• #19
Ok, measured the outer sole as best as I can and made it exactly 27cm

Sorry for the delay in response I think im going to have to pass as I can't try them on first im not sure if they are going to be on the small side.

I have a pair of exustar cycling shoes that are great commuter shoes. I haven't actually worn them much as they were always a bit small for me and i changed to clips and straps a few months back. They are size 42 or about 7.5uk.
