I think you'll find the French national jersey never has had a sponsor (outside of the manufacturer)
also visiting teams to France are not allowed to display beers/alcohol.. who remembers Wales being sponsored by Brawn as opposed to SA Brains Brewery.
not sure how they deal with Heineken League lol.

it's called the H cup in france.

wales vs italy right now. hilarious at parts!
-
• #382
Thought it was a good game to watch as a neutral, Italy played their hearts out and it's good to see them scoring tries against top sides.
-

im happy that wales won (im welsh), but im not sure, especially in the second half, that they played as well as italy. italy just didnt have that finish though, you could see wales were confident and fair play to them.
really funny when italy lost their temper though... -

When you say Italy im assuming you mean more precisely Bergamasco....he's mental, loses it in nearly every possible situation

Take that Tiggers!
Beaten at home two years in a row and Sarries first ever double over them. All the more sweet due to the ridiculously one eyed commentary I had to listen to.

never thought i'd say this, but well done england. scotland certainly gave you a tough match. just ireland next week to secure a memorable grand slam.

Giving teams a tough match, and then not winning. Seems to be Scotlands MO of late. I cant help but feel that England should have been a more donimant force.

Englands performance was well below par.. They just seemed to lack and zip and dynamic (until the second half and replacements came on). I thought Ben Youngs delivery was woefully off as well. Kept spinning the ball too high and catching Flood on the back foot. That said Scots rush defence was right on the money. Once again England were terrible at the breakdown and open to counter rucking.
I was at Twickenham and it felt very limp.

Very familiar with No9 issues. My team struggles terribly with this. Gives us zero space to play in.

I admit to flinging the odd hospital pass more than often as a 9.. But Youngs is a professional. No fucking excuse in my book.

almac, I'm not sure it'll be the most memorable of grand slams if they do it..
From my (decidedly green) vantage point, it seems that every one of the participants has been well below par besides England clicking in a couple of games. Wales, Ireland, France and Scotland have all faltered and should be performing better.
If they perform like this at the world cup the northern hemisphere will not put in a good showing at all.

I was well happy for Italy (and mostly Nick Mallet) Saturday.. Mrs. Brave, French, called me a traitor..
-
• #395
memorable for all the wrong reasons.. intriguing nevertheless,
but england have been the most consistant in this campaign..i think scotland are heading in the right direction, some comfort after many years just not clicking well. i can remember scotland's grand slam win in 1990.. when england went to murrayfield feeling very confident also as contenders..
and left losing 13-7 :)
calcutta cup stats
england wins 64
scotland wins 39
Draws 15i did expect better from wales and ireland though.. or are many players coming to the end of their international careers ?

'has beens' is something that has been thrown at Ireland players for a couple of seasons..
Looking at Sexton, O'Leary, Heaslip, Ferris, Healy, Earls, Fitzgerald and Kearney (to name but a few) though, the future is bright for the men in green. They certainly should be doing better but ageing players isn't their main concern I'd say.
They've been inaccurate and a little unlucky this time around but there's plenty of potential. Three tries against France is no mean feat.
I'll be in Dublin for the match at the weekend and can't wait. If England play anything like they did against Scotland then I'd hope for a comfortable Emerald Isle victory.

Also, my girlfriend is Scottish so I've got a soft spot for them. Would've hoped for more.

btw i knew someone who worked at HOK architects on the old Lansdowne Rd a few years back..
to develop a continous bar which could serve 60,000 pints of Guiness in the interval (15mins)did it ever work?

Ha, what a job! I'm sure they'll find out if it works this weekend..
Sounds a bit like the closing night of my student halls bar when they had to get rid of all the stock. They'd pour out as many pints as you could fit on the bar just before opening, 50p a pint.
Got skills Pt 2.
