• Re: the NAS vs big external drive, as mentioned above, I'd like something to store my music and films, which would ideally be accessible by desktop, laptop and ps3, and also to be my archive/backup.

    I've bought some big TB drives for the desktop as I'll be working on FCP alot so will keep video/audio files on them as I work and then delete whatever isn't required and archive the final project and any offlines/comps that I created so I can recreate the project if required at a later date.

    Getting a NAS seems to be a good option as most only seem to be a couple of hundred quid more expensive than the external TB HD, but give you more alternatives for streaming/networking etc. Then becomes a case of which one and how reliable/useable they are...

    again any opinions/experiences welcomed.

    in terms of getting a RAID setup, not sure if that is a step too far for what I require..
