  • IP is pretty boring as a whole in my opinion. One or two of the heats and the finals are probably worth watching but all the rest of it is soo boring.

What people aren't getting is that although the initial part of IP qualifying can be tedious, the omnium means you still have to sit through IP except it's even crapper because the times are, in the main, a lot slower than a "proper" IP and you don't get head to head finals.

    • Flying lap (250-metre time trial) boring

    • Points race (men: 30 km, women: 20 km) just a points race which we used to have champions for

    • Individual pursuit (men: 4 km, women: 3 km) all the bad bits of IP but none of the good bits

    • Scratch race (men: 15 km, women: 10 km)** meh**
    • Kilometre time trial (men), 500-metre time trial (women)an insult to the spectators who paid to get in

    • Elimination race (24 starters)**entertaining, but so is 6 day

With these events spread across 3 days, it was uninteresting enough that most people didn't bother trying to work out the confusing standings. It can only work as a spectator event if it's all in one day, oh but it's too much for a rider to do in one day. Well why fucking bother then!?
At the WC you could always tell when an omnium event was taking place as the stands emptied and people went off to do more interesting things like looking out the window at the rain or wandering around Asda.
