Both ends of that loop have a valve, one has the knob, the others needs a screwdriver to open it. You need to open both to re-presurise the heating system.
Dammit, is right that the loop is not meant to be left on (all the manual say this), but I've never seen a boiler without it left on, and plumbers always expect to find them.
Hope this is just repeating what has already been said.

Ah! looking at the wrong picture. No loop on the sick boiler.
Will need a plumber/friend with a spare loop and a clue.
