  • chewed the taper because i didn't tighten it properly, then thought I could ride it home wobbly anyway, damn. This is a lesson I'm only going to learn once.

anyway, if someone has one going spare, there's few quid or beer in it for you, or i've got loads of random spares, maybe you need something I dont

I would prefer west/south west /central pick up, not desperate to get it right away

    thanks!

  • Yes I have one you can have, I am after some uncut risers but perhaps not an equal swap, beers if you have if not you can have the crank arm anyway.

  • I've got a single LH (Solida) in Whitechapel.

  • Hey Plastic Pedals. I understand your pain! I had the same problem last week mid work commute. I whacked the loose crank back on only for it to fall off a couple of times before i eventually got to work. Without the right tools for the job I thought i'd got it back on nice and tight but over the week it would work it's way loose. Having taken her in to be tightened up properly I was shown the chewed taper and a not so happy bottom bracket spindle which had to be replaced. Check that your's is still in good nick before you put a new crank on as it will only lead to the same problem sooner rather than later.
    Good luck bud.

  • thanks, will do. i assumed it'd be alright because the axle is steel and the crank is alloy, I will check now though, cheers

  • Have a Silstar 170mm LH crank (JIS taper) with good tapers in Richmond which you're welcome to - I need a low stack headset/campag crank cap (or any other silver) if you have any of those, but no worries if not! PM if its what you're after...
