  • Cosmic have guaranteed at least second spot in Division 2 now, but that can still be overtaken by Spring Break, if they win all 6 of their remaining games, or win 5 and draw 1, and score a lot of goals.

Spring Break have only got one game left.

  • John, are you drunk again ??

Or did you get over excited by the O's equaliser ?

  • Spring Break have two games fixtures left..?

Also: Notes for Comic today (as much as I love you guys)... keep your hands on your bars, no chicken winging, stay out of play when dabbing and play the ball not the man.

Awesome fixture to watch (serious skills), but it was pretty dirty at times.

    Both ;)

  • Could have sworn I got the last goal in this game (it was after I sat in goal after twisting my ankle in game one).
Not too bothered though, thanks for the games B (& I), good to play with you, same for dogma & skids (again). Getting interesting now...

yup i think, we discussed tactics for the third game as you sitting in goal and then coming out to pop one in at the end :) Thanks buddy, hope you feel better.

yes, there was moment in the last game when i used my left hand on josh, which i admit is wrong and im sorry for that but i was trying to release his mallet hand from in front of my bars as in the heat of the moment i felt obstructed. i was not trying to be dirty and use the move to take advantage in play.

re. 'play the ball not the man' so it's okay to actively block & take out outfield players and keepers when not playing the ball but its wrong to safely shield a player in order to win the ball?

the rest...that was prob snoops ;-)

Don't know why but this made me laugh......

The defendant would like to state that .........

  • innuendo from saucy Mat.

Now I know what John H meant by 'dirty' play.

  • yeah it sounds a bit like that...but only because i now have to explain the situ on here to defend the accusation of dirty play.

im not saying i did the right thing against josh, but if people have issues with specific moments in games id much rather they are pulled up and discussed on court there and then. things happen in the heat of the moment which arent always right but putting statements on the forum about games after is poor form

  • good games, cosmic

    a few thoughts, not pointed.

games shouldn't 'get dirty', if there is any dirty play it should be called out and the player punished

false starts should result in a restart

  • yes, there was moment in the last game when i used my left hand on josh, which i admit is wrong and im sorry for that

ha...now that i read it back...

shit, does that mean cosmic cant play with emmet again either?

  • a few pointed points.

stay out of play when dabbin

the opposite should results in a sin bin equal in measure to the amount of time the obstructed player was out of play.

re. 'play the ball not the man' so it's okay to actively block & take out outfield players and keepers when not playing the ball but its wrong to safely shield a player in order to win the ball?

safely shielding does not equal violently swerving

if we don't talk about stuff, it could happen again

  • (not angry!)

  • "touch them nicer"

  • Psyclone, any chance of playing you this week?

    Degeneration can do Thursday.

Bill, psyclone are playing JAK on Thursday at Newington. Double header?

    (dublinkevin)

  • Double header is good. I can be there from 7pm.

I'll check with my fellow Degenerates & confirm.

  • This is fine with me.

  • Good games yesterday.

People in London are losing touch with the global standard of polo. We don't want to cut ourselves off. Even non-physical teams in Europe are a level up in physicality from us.

I don't think play was overly dirty, I spoke to Cam after the game and we both asked each other if play was too hard and we both said no. So tbh I'm not too fussed what spectators think.

I think it's funny how when we are all on a BM team together we are talking about how we need to raise physicality against certain teams/players, and then we play each other with the same ideas and everyone freaks out. Weird.

  • Hard/physical is not the same as dirty.

    You beast.

  • Snoops, your attitude yesterday was "if the ref doesn't see it/call it, it doesn't matter", which isn't going to stand you in good stead for the Euros/Worlds.

Physicality, yes, cool. Rule breaking, no thanks.

I'd have put you in the box... ask yourself: What would Manu do?

Snoops, you were retrieving your mallet, dabbed, and then pushed Cam out of the way.

If you can't see that as a foul, which had I been reffing & seen, I would have had you off for, then there's something wrong with you - at least when I commit a foul, I know that I have done it.

Personally, I have no problem with physical play, but the game is supposed to be polo, not foot-down.

  • That attitude is understandable to be fair.

It's easier to play dirty than with finesse, that's why we have rules. Currently the punishment for rule-breaking does not offset the advantage gained by any rule-breaking.

    For example,

If you knew that as soon as you used an elbow you'd be off for 30 seconds and the opposing team would get the ball, would you do it?
    or
If you knew that as soon as you used an elbow your opponent would get annoyed, you'd win the ball and get a few boos, would you do it?

How many 30 second penalties have been awarded across the whole league this season? How many should have been awarded? Nothing in particular against John's reffing from yesterday, he stepped up and followed the same patterns reffing has taken all season, at European tournaments and in London.
