  • Brake hose, hydraulics :) Doesn't matter how you route them but yeah, would give a much cleaner line if it goes along the downtube. Nice cranks and chainring combo too, fiddy quid just for the chainring IIRC. What hubs are those?

Is the brake cable meant to be like that?

  • No, I am swapping the rear hydraulic brake for a mechanical BB7 for ease of maintanance so left the hose at standard length. It was too long to go the normal route! Have been playing with a rear disc for 3 months with no incident but may try to knock together a disc guard just to be sure!

Rear is Hope Pro II (lovely noise!) and front is Hope Pro III Road. Both 36H

  • Venn's got a disc brake on his but its sheltered a bit by a brake booster that he mounted over it, i think he got ryan to weld the mounts on.

Nice stuff, if cash allows then maybe will splash on a set. Were they previously on a DJ bike and refitted for polo duty? Certainly looks so to me, with the crank/hub/brake combo.

Venn's bike is an In-bred not a Pomp as many thinks. Yes, Ryan of Oak Cylces/polo fame got it done for him, decent job too, was also thinking it was a Pompetamine at first but the Pompino like dropouts kinda baffled me.

  • ^ Quite an expensive build, Sugino 75 cranks, Goldtec hubs and ceramic rims?

  • Nearly finished:

    Things to do:

Slightly shorter stem - 90mm with maybe 17 degree rise (current is 100mm with 10 degree)
New wheel set - Thinking gold Planet-X hubs and black mavic open sport rims (on a budget). Silver spokes maybe?
New seatpost - Maybe an Easton EA30
New saddle - Not sure, probably a Charge Spoon in black
New pedals - Might force myself to go SPD.

Looking good!!! I've just bought a Sterling Green Large Pomp after agonising over the colour, but the brown looks really good in your photos. Unfortunately I've now done my back in, so I can't even get her out to take photos at the moment let alone ride :-(

  • i'm looking into getting a pomp, but dont like the fork, anyone had experiance's with straight forks?

  • ^ Quite an expensive build, Sugino 75 cranks, Goldtec hubs and ceramic rims?

Yep. Rims are standard Open Pro's though, not ceramic. Rear is an old one (grey) and front is a new one (black).

i have straight carbon fibre forks, is excellent.

  • Really warming up to the pomp and yes, looks good with the cabrĂ³n forks.

  • good looking straight steel forks with canti?

  • i need to get mine back from the headset fitting...pics tomorrow :)

  • My brown pomp has just arrived... really looking forward to building it up. Quick question.

There are a couple of braze-ons that I am not sure about - anyone know what they are? One on the back of the headtube and one on the inside of the rear driveside seat stay.

  • Headtube might be for a pump, the rear drive side, I'd guess is for a rear gear cable.

    But that's just guessing.

  • front - pump
rear - chain, while you're changing the wheel

  • The one on the inside of the drivesdie seatstay is to hang you chain on when you've got the rear wheel removed:

Oh my god, why don't all bikes have this????

  • I did wonder if that was what it was for :)

  • Finished for the minute, probably get some new wheels and a stem when I can afford it

mudguards/lights aren't all that attractive but they serve their purpose
