  • Hi everyone,

I've been toying with the idea of building a single speed bike for a while and as I'm not working at the moment, I went ahead and bought a cheapo Raleigh mixte frame to get me going...I hope. I'll need lots of parts and advice now I guess, hence the signing up. No worries though, I'm already a big fan of the search function.
I'm pretty much into classic looking bikes and love browsing the rivendell site for instance.

For most of my life I wasn't actually particularly into bikes but purely considered them a natural choice for transport, thanks to having grown up in one of Germany's most bike friendly cities. Everybody cycled to get from A to B and so did (and still try to do) I. Not on earth would I have volunteered to go on a trip just for the sake of it though.
This changed when I had to borrow the boyfriend's much-loved Wanderer touring bike to be able to get to work one day. I had only ridden bikes that were rather hard work to push by then and I suddenly started to realise what fun a smooth running machine could be.

My current ride is a Patria touring bike which I mainly use to get around London. I have also taken it on a few short trips in Germany, France and England so far and are hoping to explore more on it.

Now I'm looking forward to cruising around on my very "own" bike, yay!

    Take care
    Stef
