anyone know if brick lane bagels are vegan? i know montréal's famous fairmount bagels are not, but they are also a very distinct type of woodfire bagel
-
• #503
i believe they are not, but other people say different

I suppose to be certain you have to ask them but whenever I've made them they've been vegan. I don't recall seeing recipies for them with any dairy - just the usual flour, yeast, water and salt.

yeah in montréal they brush them with egg before they go into the wood oven

I'm not sure about that--I asked them once, years ago, and they were adamant they were vegan. I then asked them what oil they used and someone brought out a drum of cooking oil on which it said something about animal oil being mixed in, but I can't remember what exactly--I only remember that I decided then not to eat them. You might have to ask them again to get the latest.

And on a more constructive note:

From the latest issue of The Vegan. Someone's done a mix of songs with (allegedly) vegan-themed lyrics. I haven't listened to it yet. For one of the lyrics mentioned in the article, this claim certainly seemed a little far-fetched. :)

I actually had no idea that Prince was so solidly vegan. Apparently, he's had pretty strident liner notes on some of his records.

Urgh, but that opening track by Prince is truly dire. Do not like. Utterly pedestrian lyrics. No offence to pedestrians.

It's nice talking to yourself occasionally.
-
• #517
I know what you mean about Prince being Vegan
-
• #518
For example he hates it when doves fry

• #519
And he wrote that one for Sinead O'Connor

"Nothing Compares Tofu"

My favourite by him was "Lentil Red Corvette"

Greetings fellow vegans!
I'm new to this forum, but not new to biking and veganning. Thought I'd pop by, say hi and share some pics...

Gotta say I bought some vegan mozzerella the other night and it was not terrible. Tasted nothing like mozzerella, was more like feta if antyhing, but melted fine (we were making pizzas).
I don't usally like isotopes of that kind but it definitely worked.

I didn't know there was a vegan thread on here ! I've been vegan years and years, and was winning races on fixed gear until recently. So there........
i think you are confusing jerky with jerk. jerky is dehydrated meat i.e. beef jerky, jerk is a mixture of spices i.e. jamaican jerk chicken
