Dunno Will... Intended to come back until recently. My life is all over the shop at the moment. Got stuff in storage there so I have to come back at some stage.

Hasn't the barclays bike made the folder in London more or less obsolete?
Why spend £400 on a bike that will never manage to be both comfy and fold up small, when you can pay £60 a year for a bike that is around the corner?
I realise there are people for whom a folder is still the best idea, but my n+1 doesn't include a folding bike anymore.
Also fixed folder... Why not just get a unicycle?

Kinda.
Will the BB be there when you're going to pick it up from the dock?
Will there be enough room in says, Waterloo for you to lock the BB to?
Will the seat be dry?

You can only find docks in central London mores the point.
Folding bikes can be taken anywhere, to work, to meetings, out to dinner etc. without any faff finding a dock. Also if you're using a BB after coming in from the country/suburbs how do you travel to the station at the home end of your journey? A folding bike is a solution to bad public transport links or the desire not to use your car or just to keep fit, they will also save you a fair bit of money on the long run.
Brompton have long had very good representation over the Greater London area fir many years so ou could have thought that they would have reached their saturation point yet on the contrary they are selling more bikes this year over last.
You could also say that bike sales would take a hit due to the BB scheme yet I'm fairly certain that these will just entice more people to cycling who then will go onto buy there own bikes.

Do you work for Brompton?

Cummon guys, BB v Folder = non contest for a "cyclist".

I quite agree, during the tube strike, we almost sold all the brompton on the shelf, even the more expensive model.

Ah, but does it fit into a handbag? Looks like it would make an interesting pendant for a gold neckchain.

Or you fancy a challenge?

jesus, why? WHY???!!!
okay i guess can sort of see the point of a folding bike if you're, like, a suit and you want to ride your bike from your fancy house in the suburbs to the train that will take you to your cityboy job in liverpool street. but for a serious cyclist?
As well as the Moultons, which were so good they got banned from a lot of competitive cycling, read this:

I would think that the fast spin up of small wheels would be an attractive proposition to fixed and ss riders, I have a Reach City and I am fairly sure it accelerates better than my Spesh Allez.
