awesome Olly, welcome to the folding family!
Jim has one too!
I vote for a brompton night at souths one week!me, you, Hillbilly, Nhatt, JennyJ, Loic, FuriousTiles..who else have I missed?
Give me a heads up and I'll try to make it too.
Incidentally I flipped the little wheels round so the sloping side faces outwards. This has solved the shoe-catching issue, and doesn't seem to affect the stability when folded up.

ok so went to condor today, no S2L's, considered buying an M3L at 2011 prices :(
dropped in to cyclesurgery in holburn... found a black S2L @ £699 (less 10% LCC discount) and an ex demo M3L-X at a ridiculous price of £850. Dilemmas....:/
Bumped in to BMMF which I took as a good omen. so I bought both, will be cannibalising them to make a S2LX for myself and a M3L as a gift for my girl <3

so next question. recommend me a bag that isn't too heavy and will protect a brompton when I take it as hold luggage on a flight. I've seen the B bag but it doesn't look that padded. And it's £110!
any alternatives out there?
(and if anyone knows where to get a ti seatpost too)

a nice option (with pictures) there using a Carradice bag - he links also to the brompton mailing list where there are many other ideas.
ref the Ti seatpost - the '2010 X uses the new Aluminium post as it's apparently lighter (and more available!) than the old Ti version. It seems fine to me ;)

Most people on that ^^ mailing list seem to like this option...
Amazon.com: Delsey Axiom 30" Rolling Upright Suiter: Clothing
I assume they are predominantly American though, as it doesn't seem to be readily available in the UK...

White Tyre update. They ride really nicely, lower PSI feels comfier, but also slower.
Cameraphone focused on the fence...

^ Nice retro pavemaster look, pretty sure they used to fold as well.

That Brompton does look really nice with that sweep back handlebar.
Since I can get bicycle at trade price, I'm struggling to choose between a Brompton and a Moulton (not strictly a folding bike I know).
-
• #211
love the engineering of moultons but would rather have a big wheeled bike with S&S if it aint folding
-
• #212
It's separable though which does make packing easier than a non-separable one.

If you're commuting- Brompton, if not Moulton. The Moultons better in every way other than being able to fold

unknown bars - being swapped out for some risers i think - i prefer a more upright position (specially when in work clothes)

i love the engineering of moultons but i can't really see how that's useful tbh - still got to pay to get it on a plane - the brompton however can be taken in a shop/bus/train at ease and not classed as a bike when on a plane...
-
• #217
You can still put the Moulton in a normal suitcase without much disassembling required.
If a bicycle fit in a normal suitcase, would that be classifed as a suitcase than a bicycle?
Secondly I don't think I'll be flying that often.

it's not chargable on the Eurostar or German trains for example when seperated.
It's also a lot easier to lob it on the back seat of a c*r. It's rather more useful than you think TBH - ok it's not a brilliant folder like the B, but the separation is not hard to do.

I'd prefer a full sized bike with S&S couplers if I was going down the non folding travel bike route.
Saying that just like Tilover I do love Moultons for their engineering.

Eurostar jobsworths at St Pancras told me next time I needed a bag for the Brompton when I came through on Tuesday. Fuck that! When it's folded it's no inconvenience to anyone. Still, might keep a spare bin liner in my satchel just in case.
Didn't have a problem going the other way from Brussels...

I fit Power Grips to my Brompton today.
It involved a drill, a tap, and more patience than I have ever displayed in the face of such an adversary before.
They rule.
(yes, the pedal still folds)
Needs pics!!!
There are hills in Brussels.... I am interested

Erm, it's been mentioned elsewhere, but I too am now a member of your collapsible cult. Got a black S2L (big thanks to the dealer) with firm block, Brooks, lights, and Marathons.
Changes made include Kojaks for the summer, switching the 12t to a 13t for a more practical ~68" top gear (and smaller gear differential), Eazy wheels + bung, narrow lock-on grips and short bar ends, ATACS, additional cable tie around seattube where the cables pass through the guide because after moving the controls inboard a little for fitting grips/bar ends, the cables were brushing against the chainring a little during use.
Keeping the 12t handy for more speedy outings. Have done a 40 mile nightride and a Regents Park chaingang in the week or two since getting it, plus fallen in love with the liberating qualities it exudes in town.
Also bought a 'jumbo storage bag' off eBay for £4 that the Brompton squeezes into, apart from the saddle. Handy to keep in my courier bag for uppity establishments. It's black with skull and crossbones on :/
Sorry, no pictures to hand.

I donated my folder to a charity ruffle for some underprivileged kids back home..
Tiles, you work there don't you? My good friend Tom Shazzocks does too. Jab him affectionately with something (not too sharp) if you see him.
