  • Esh!

That is fucking hideous. Good components and functionality aren't enough.

  • but the layback seatpost could be changed for something in-line.

The horizontal position of the saddle in relation to the BB, is fixed for a given rider. But as that thomson looks shite, and the saddle is pushed forward on it. I'd change it anyway.

The owner either has to live with the ugly spacer stack or buy a frame with more 'shopper-esque' geometry.

  • Eh, it look like a perfectly decent touring bike, especially with the stem/spacer which is normal for such bike.

  • There's a lots of them* in London already, and some courier have it, mechanically easier to look after with just a single speed and v-brake.

The only issue you have really is to make sure it's well put together as the quality of the bike can varies on mechanic.

    *bTwin orange bike

other issue is they're single speed but come OTP with tiny gearinches. ridiculously spinny if you don't change it

Maybe. Makes for an ugly front end though, and the chain does look too short (if you're carefull with your shifting, a little too short is arguably advantageous). Plus I dont like the look of the seatpost.

Not far from porn though, and very solid component wise.

  • Fuck all you bellends, it's a touring bike. I posted it up because when I look at it I think of open roads, country pubs, fields of rapeseed, the warm sun on my back, pitch tents at dusk, barbecues, hazy horizons and feeling free. Besides, I actually like its purposeful looks.

Well yeah. Anything to keep your mind off that nasty spacer stack ;)

Tis a fine bicycle. Just needs tweeking.

  • I'll agree despite it's short chain.

In fact, if I post my touring bike on this forum, it'd go straight to anti-porn, especially with the sheer amount of spacer it have and the butterfly handlebar.

  • ed... where did you get the bars on that holdsworth ? they look like old randonneur style ones..... lush !

  • It's not mine, but it look to be those classic handlebar from the 30's, however Soma released a similar shaped one called the lauterwasser bar;

    http://www.somafab.com/bar_lauterwasser.html

    (compared to the Holdsworth)

Not quite the same but it's fairly close enough.

  • Hmmm.... posts photo of kids in lycra in porn thread.

    needs quizzical t rex meme.

    Did you mean philosoraptor?

  • decathlon usually stock those, can't find it in the website though and it cost £70.

change of tyres and you're sorted.

Unfortunately I think the Vitamin was discontinued, I haven't seen it for sale anywhere for months.

Shame, because it seemed like a really decent bike, 2 years warranty on parts and 5 years on frame, too. I see a couple of them in York sometimes.

Nothing really comes close to it. Even the cheapest Apollo has gears and front suspension (wtf?). Next thing up is Kona Smoke for £200ish, it's a very good bike for the money (I'd buy one) but for some people that is too much money, especially considering that it doesn't look like a decent bike (considering Apollo do bikes with front suspension and 'lightweight' aluminium frame for less money).

  • Did you mean philosoraptor?

    that'll be the one...

  • Team Canada Pogliaghi is a repost but can't resist a good head-on picture.

  • That raw finish on the Goldsprint is lush, digging that a LOT

  • there must be a better way, like a bigger frame!

It doesn't need a bigger frame, it needs a different frame, one with a sloping top tube to a longer head tube, while keeping the effective top tube length unchanged. It's clearly an example of somebody truing to make an OTP frame fit where a custom frame was needed.

  • ed.... thanks, its is pretty similar....shop, shop, shop ! ( off to nyc next week ! )

  • I'm not usually a big fan of Integralters, but this set up is really nice.

    From Sizemore Bikes.

I NEEEEEED some of them bars, They're awesome!

  • I do like that bike, it is very 'cool', the kid beside it aint tho

  • he looks like a fucking twat.

  • re-post? hope not. MAP

to make sure it's not a repost, it's always worth checking the date, if it's very recent, then chance are it hasn't been posted (by me that is!), but with the photo taken 34 months ago, there's a large chance it been posted, however it's a long time ago and that kind of repost is jusified, after all it is a lovely bike.

  • thanks for the formula...it never occured to me to check the date of the photo. didn't see that bike in the last 200 or so pages, but I will cover the other 650 till i am caught up; i will be back in 2012

  • Where can one purchase those handlebar grips?
