  • punji sticks in the back garden?

  • Glad you got it back EEI.

  • Booby trap garden Kris.

  • Anyone missing a red specialized fixed/single speed? Spotted something odd going on outside of Archway today (looked like it was being sold on)

  • Long shot here, but had my new Brooks saddle (http://t.co/8lLGYLE) taken from the theft hive that is outside Rio cinema on Kingsland Road tonight. Please let me know if you see one for sale on Brick Lane market/eBay/Gumtree anytime soon. How is this area so busy and no-one sees anything? My own fault obviously, massive self-kicking taking place.

  • hi there, another stolen bike.. and traumatised girlfriend. Its a 20 year old Blue 12speed Dawes, ladies tourer. quite small, i think about 17 inch frame? It has very distinctive bright Yellow drop handlebars, full mudguard set and an old school Rotary Bell. It also has a small white repair kit pouch under the seat. Just fitted new red and black Koolstop pads also. gutted. Stolen today Sat 12th Feb so will almost certainly end up at brick lane tomorrow. i will go with a stick. Would love to leave a picture here but cant see how to do it. drag and drop doesn't work??

  • not that there's any reason that it should. its 2:35 in the morning, what can i say.

  • Bump.

Had a crash this monday, replacement bikes fork is bent and im quite thight on cash, so very keen to get this back :/ if anyone that knows about legal stuff reads this could they PM?

    frame no: *****

call me if you see anything

Got a call from the police, they arrested the thief but they haven't found the bike. That is all I know for sure at the moment but will call back for more details.

I think he got arrested for burglar and theft at our block of flats. Or he got arrested for another burglar and also admitted to this theft, it's a bit unclear at the moment, will get back with more details.

I understand I can receive the grand amount for 2£/month for my stolen bike depending on the sentence. I need some advice here, can I request that he also pays for the time off work (courier) I had to take due to not having a ride?

Got my bike back after 9 months! Thanks everyone! Removed personal info from the post.

  • spotted something mad suspect last night...

riding back from peckham pulse, coming up on rye lane, and i see a very shady looking dude (not to stereotype, but pretty thug) riding a yellow bianchi (looked a bit like a d2?) with a white aerospoke front, and what looked like a white velocity on the rear.

sound familiar to anyone on here? that guy DID NOT look like he owned those wheels in the slightest...

  • a friend's bike was stolen this morning from midhurst way, e8. he described it as...

classic white track frame, black tioga seatpost, white charge saddle, black itm stem, battered low pro bars, condor hs, wing tt carbon forks, miche cranks with yellow writing (probably primato), black chainring, time pedals, front velocity, rear fir with goldtec rear, and a home made camo top tube protector.

ben works as a courier and would appreciate a call if anyone sees it, his number is 07886 191 948

I spotted this yesterday too, it was locked to the railings in the middle of the road on peckham high street. Thought it looked a bit odd.

dude... shady. when did you see it locked up? and was it locked well?

i'll bet you anything in the world that shit was stolen from wherever you saw it locked up...

  • Really sorry to hear this. My swift Brooks saddle stolen from Clerkenwell recently. My partner and I have lost 6 saddles to thieves over last few year.

Am now planning to solder the bolt.

  • the car park on sclater street is where you'll find your saddle
there is a bike parts stall very dodgy blokes manning it
found some parts there myself a month or two back when a friend had some parts stolen
get down there this sunday and you've got 50% chance of finding it i would say

  • I appreciate that this doesn't mean much, but that sucks. I have experienced exactly the same thing but it was a Thomson/supercorsa combo. I literally have to strip my bike now when I lock it up outside my flat. Pedals 'n' all....

  • Ouch. Soldering the allen key bolts is a great idea though, is there any reason why that wouldn't work?

  • Tapping a ball bearing into the hex head is a good compromise between soldering closed and having a deterent that can be removed when you need to (small stick with a bit of superglue to remove)

  • i dont use locks.. if i cant take my bike with me into the shop/work/bar i dont go in.

I can't see this ever being workable unless your bike is a folder.

  • It’s not as difficult as you might think. My local shops allow me to wheel in my bike, even though the signs on the door supposedly forbid it. Worth pushing your luck sometimes – I just started taking them in without asking and received no objection, so now it’s accepted. Obviously won’t work everywhere though.

  • Some shop doesn't have the room, some does, like says, a bike shop.

Same. And if they object I never go back. A lot of places in Hackney clearly don't mind, but even in the shitehole that is Plaistow the shops near work never complain.

    best security out there
haven't lost any bikes since i adopted this policy

  • what about work? Secure garage?

I take the tube now to combat my bikes being stolen
    Problem bike thieves?
