TBH, if you only ride once a year then the saddle doesn't matter ;)
Some of the endurance boys ride 3x 3 hour sessions/races per week, + a couple of roller/turbo sessions.
Winston is being flippant, of course the saddle is unimportant if it's comfortable. But it'll sure as hell become a pretty important issue when you are on it for 12-14 hours a week and it's not comfortable. (whether it's an old turbo or a £150 worth of carbon)
Ideally you would want the same saddles on your race and training bike(s).
