  • Random question from a non-photographer

My parents are off on a long holiday and they want to be able to backup their digital photos while they are on the road. They do not want to carry a laptop and will have little to no internet connectivity anyway so any cloud base backup services are pointless.

What would be ideal is an external hard drive that plugs into their camera (Canon D5) and will copy the pictures from the CF card directly. I've been doing some poking around but haven't seen anything.

Wiganwill was kind enough to point me in the direction of the Freecom tough drive but I'm not sure if you can plug that directly into the camera and have that backup. I also found [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B001P3NUNA/ref=dp_db_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1"]the Clickfree USB dongle[/ame] on Amazon and I'm not sure if you could daisy chain things together and bodge it.

Anyone have any recommendations for photo backup for the traveller without a laptop?
