Did anyone hear the woman on Any Answers on R4 on Sat?
'the big society isn't about money, its about attitude. Money doesn't come into it.'
apparently.

Time for a bump - If we're all in this together, why is that William Hague is flying to the Middle East in a private jet and I'm still flying Ryanair?
Oh! I know this one. Is it because he's a cabinet minister, and you're a prole?
-
• #1954
So Hague should fly Ryaniair, right?
-
• #1955
I don't think they have services to the middle east..

It's a bit of a non-starter as a point isn't it? I bet he'll have fillet steak while he's there as well, while I have to make do with rump. Tory bastard.

If we're all in this together surely he should fly BA or some other "regular" airline.
It's all good and well for Cameron to put a wind turbine on his roof to become "the acceptable face of the Tories" but it has no substance if his subordinates are squandering resources the way they are. Also, 50% of the party funding came from the City, no surprise there either.

When he says we're in all in this together I don't think he's referring to an aeroplane.
I agree with you general position though, that they are all scum-sucking bastards.
Although I quite like Hague in a way, he seems to have a certain respect for what's gone before and a bit of dignity, unlike Ed Miliband and his ilk (by which I don't necessarily mean other Labour MPs).

What does this actually mean?

What it "actually means" is I basically believe him be a learned man with humility and integrity, as opposed to a so-called career politician who will say absolutely anything to appear virtuous. I basically trust him. It's just a shame he's so... conservative.
What's gone before = history, as opposed to the anti-history attitude of New Labour.

Good point, Josh.
Quite apart from the difficulty of fitting everybody in, there are very specific laws about overloading aeroplanes, and very severe penalties for breaking them.Jaw would be wise to think upon the consequences of his words in future.

Funny though – when Hague was leader, nothing could disassociate my feelings to him from his rabid young Tory-boy address to their conference years ago, when he was a lad. Wanted nothing but to deck him. Now, after the event, he seems reasonable. Prejudicial and fickle lot, the public.

Point duly noted, next point on the agenda for today is party donations...

There is something about electoral defeat which humanises party leaders. Perhaps they lose the arrogant streak or something.
Except Brown and Michael Howard, obviously.
Doesn't seem to be the same for leaders who step down (Blair) or lose leadership contests (Heath, Thatcher). They still seem to remain cunts.

I'm not a fan of new labour but I'd be interested as to why you view them as anti-history?

This needs a new thread that we can all be in together:
Time for a bump - If we're all in this together, why is that William Hague is flying to the Middle East in a private jet and I'm still flying Ryanair?
