Hmmm, bit of a Heath Robinson job on the front brake cable routing!!! Because the cantilever brakes are mounted 'aero' style behind the fork blades, the cable rubs on the underside of the fork crown and then transmits a lateral loading on the cantilever which increases the more the brake is applied. Interesting! Nice bike otherwise.
