  • You can do a sort of faux-shallow DOF effect by zooming in fully and standing well back.

    Whatever is behind the subject gets enlarged and looks fuzzy because its so big in relation to the subject (zooming sort of kills perspective). So the angle of the buidlings/kerbs would look a lot straighter, but they will be bigger so look fuzzier and flatter. This can give the foreground subject some "pop" a bit like shallow DOF.
