what you lot think about bailey works bags , thinking of getting a super pro from cavendish, are there better options??

  • i have one it's great, huge, and if you get away with tax, like i did, great

  • Hey Up,,,

I got a bit of extra christmas money and i'm thinking about treating myself to a new bag.

I want something with plenty of room as I have to cart about work clothes and gym gear and I'm sick of cramming it all in my north face base camp messenger bag that I have at the mo.

I am struggling to choose between a large bagaboo workhorse

or a Bailey Works Large SuperPro Messenger

The Bailey works is slightly cheaper and both seem to be a decent size without being ridiculously massive, not sure if the baggaboo is overkill though,, since it is really a pro courier bag.

Has anyone got a Bailey works bag, are they any good? Can't find much about them on here, I know they are on the approved bags list but that's about it.

What does everone think, I can't make up my mind. I am leaning towards the bailey works just because it's a bit cheaper and I need a new lock aswell.

  • I have no regrets about purchasing my Bagaboo. Its a workhorse pro, and its not overly massive when the compression straps are down. Holds lots of stuff though.

Cavendish stock them if you want a look.

  • bag / browser / internet / lol / etc

  • cavendish also stock the bailey bag. i have a bailey bag.it's alright. but i'd like a new one.

are they good bags? how has it lasted? would you have another?

  • it's big and it's lasted over a year (nearly 2 i think). has a lot of space. two good pockets. two bottle carrier spaces inside. because i got the HUGE size, there's a tendency to overfill it. i think i've messed around with the straps recently and made it a bit more uncomfortable. it's alright. i've thrown it all over the place, it's still in good nick. if i were buying a bag and only had 90 quid to spend, i think i'd look at one of these again. my thinking is though, that i'd probably save and get a marlon or the next one up from archies'.

  • Did yo get yours from cavendish? glad you mentioned that, urban hunter seem a bit overpriced if you only paid 90??? is yours the large???

  • i bought mine some time ago mind, from cavendish. mine is the link you posted.
when are you buying your bag? where are you? etc etc? it may be possible for you to have a squizz at mine at some point.

  • I'm not in any imediate rush, some time in the next couple weeks, I'm in lee but I'm not in London for a couple weeks either, I'll get my arse to cavendish and take a look at some point. Cheers for the offer tho.

    • one million
  • I have both, and have worked with both. IMO the bailey is much better due to the fact that it's simpler. No extra pockets and straps that you don't need. The bagaboo does have back padding, but the extra large bailey has pockets in the back that you can put your own padding in. If you are actually going to use it to work with then don't get the bagaboo.

Cheers mate, did you get your bailey from cavendish? Do you remember what you paid for it?

Hmm, I'm using the Bagaboo Workhorse XL for messenger work in Berlin. And I'm really happy with it. The "scalability" is great (almost empty back is reasonable small if you use the compression straps) and at least for messenger work here you really need that bunch of additional side bags, compartements etc. We have loads of documents, receipt forms, price tables etc. to carry around. With all that stuff you're happy to have a defined place in the bag so that it's not flying around between the customer's parcels.

  • I ordered an XL Super Pro from the US and was charged import duty before Parcelforce would release the parcel :-(
In terms of other options, don't overlook the Chrome bags. They are extemely well made and available in comparable sizes.

  • I have only owned Bailey, but fantastic simple bag with enough pockets, I have a medium which is great for commute although many times small would suffice
