I swear stainless doesn't rust, being free of iron, but it is nearly 4 am.

I swear stainless doesn't rust, being free of iron, but it is nearly 4 am.
stainless steel can get rust marks in case the surface was treated (for example sanded or polished) with tools that were used on normal steel before... small particles do then contaminate the stainless surface.

NOW SOLD
Set of polished stainless steel Giles Berthoud 26" mudguards. Never fitted because I sold the bike I bought them for.
They are still in packaging but have tiny rust marks along the edges from storage. They polish out to *almost *nothing with a cloth (see pics) but not completely.
Fixing set is included but no instructions (they are onlnie though)
Cost £40 ish new, selling for £10 due to rust or swap for rear wire basket. Collection from N15 or City.
