• Really sorry to hear this

I have a bike already prepared which I was going to use to replace the one for my friend James Foster killed in 2003 http://admin.roadpeace.org/internetmemorials/memorial.php?show=289 but seem more approapriate to use here.

I made it like a fixie as that was what James rode.

  • I have joined in response to gobby_wench's comments.
If there is one thing that loving Dan taught me it's that he didn't judge. No matter what anyone did he would have shrugged his shoulders and still bought them a drink (which could be immensely infuriating!), but that was Dan. So please don't be upset by what this person has written, he wouldn't have been.

He was incredibly special and very, very loved; Weazlepopper and PeuJoe, he knew how you felt about him and I hope you did too.
Weazlepopper, I can always remember him telling me about when you got a bike for christmas from you employer and he thought that was the best thing ever!

Keep riding and please stay safe

  • HI Zeb,

we have a bike, also fixed but thanks for the offer.

  • Hankie, gobby_wench has I believe been kicked off LFGSS for their comments in here. as a community and fellow cyclist theirs was unacceptable behaviour.

  • top work
    :thumbs up:

  • beutiful, looks like a real celebration

  • Nice one!

  • I went a gig tonight and a song from it sort of fitted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggfgcOaOxXU&feature=related

  • Good work on the bike! I'll make sure to check it out.

  • I just rode past the bike placed at the junction.

My thoughts go out to everyone involved

  • incredibly sad :-(

    rest in peace Dan

    .

  • Robotic Chickens!? This made me smile! I am sorry for your loss, all that know and love Dan and all the things that Dan did.

Let's all add something to Dan's memorial.

  • Saw the bike on my way in this morning, it looks glorious.

My thoughts go out to all Dan's friends and family.

  • Only just read this thread, very sad news

RIP Dan, thoughts are with loved ones

Great respect to all those involved with the GB

  • RIP.

I'll grab a frozen chicken and a Transformer and construct some sort of humble memorial.

  • RIP Dan,
this is so, so sad. My sympathy for his family and all his friends.
    Great work with the bike.

  • ^^Thanks for the photos.

I have just had a call from Jasmine at the Hackney Gazette. As a result of this tragedy they are planning a campaign to make Hackney safer for cyclists. Jasmine would like to write something about Dan and what he was like but she doesn't want to copy posts from the forum. If anyone feels up to contacting her, PM me and I will pass on the details.

  • This is just too sad and such a waste of a life. Regulary cycle up and down past this spot and will try and think of something to add to the memorial - lovely idea by the way weazlepopper.

What else can people do? Write to MP's? TFL? Keep us up to date with the safer cycling in Hackney campaign?

  • great memorial. thanks for the photos weazelpopper.

  • I've only just caught up on this after the weekend. I'm so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. RIP :0(

  • Dunno where from but I think I recognise him. Damn
