  • I've used a hammer and pliers to put a chain back together before, wore the chain out, no problems, not to be recommended though but when needs must. This however is not a compact of lightweight chain tool, it is not easy to use on the side of the road either.

  • But its fucking hardcore and that's why we love you tommy.

  • I use the LifeLine one from Wiggle. It has done the Shadow Interlock II a couple of times and is still going. Not bad considering Will's comments about these chains: "We originally bought in the Cracker when we discovered the Interlock chain's tendency to giggle nastily at Park tools and Topeaks and the like."

Its certainly cheap, so something to consider, thanks.

  • i got one of these

had it about 15 years, small handles but still has broken/fixed ever chain in that time.(1/8, 3/32) etfuckinC

That's what I done got too, works like......

  • you don't need a strong one you just need to use it properly !!

    ;-)

Teach us your black art then!

  • The knowledge may not be passed on.. only acquired through self-sacrifice and frequent masturbation.

  • i use one of these dose the job and fits in a pocket

  • 3/16" FAT chain on my bike

i need a strong one, the ppl at the lbs said it broke their shop tool

    park tool ct-7 recommended earlier

    What do motorcycle mechanics use?

Really quick post, dont bother putting me down/saying utfs/lmgtfy/etc

    :)

  • sorry for repeating myself, but.....

    can only be the one

  • ct-7 fits the bill, saying it will split and rejoin any 3/16" chain whether it be extra wide or tall. pity its totally out of my price range

rik, do you have experience using this hubjub tool with 3/16" chain?

  • nop!

  • Some chains have pins flattened over on both sides. I broke a couple of cheap tools on my KMC Devil 101, and a Hub-jub tool wouldn't shift the pins either. So I ground the pin head off/down with a mini-drill grinder, and then pushed the pin out no problem. This was fine for me because I was just shortening to use the master-link thingy. Not much use if you were planning to put it back together.
