  • so how much are the road frames? they look fabulous, especially the gold! feeling the need for steel & chrome (or gold) , email 'ale' is the way forwards?

  • I love those details on the top of the downtube lugwork and forks.

  • that looks gorgeous, if I didn't already have a track bike, would be seriously tempted..

  • ^ so you're admitting openly on this forum that you only have ***one ***track bike? one, as in one, uno, один, correct?

  • if you mean as in I only have one which I will be racing on the track, yes you are correct..

  • you could get a proper track bike for that money though.
none of this wanky steel business...

  • meh, I like steel, never got on with aluminium, well not on the road anyway, and carbon just doesn't get the blood flowing..
the frame above is nice, handbuilt, time and attention lavished on it, select your own colour, I'm also a sucker for chrome, so seatstays, chain stays, forks, ahhh!!!

  • but this is a bike for the track, no?
steel is shit at the track. especially that skinny 531 type crap.... looks pretty, but rides shit.
Oversize steel like JayGee's Roberts is much better, but not a touch on alloy or carbon.

My first season i rode steel... did the job fine, I thought. Then last season I rode my alloy Pinarello. The difference is uncompareable. This season i shall be riding carbon.

They stopped making bikes out of steel for a reason.

  • ^ all just my opinion.

I'm sure someone will come and tell me all about the hidden wonders of 20 year old reconditioned 'retro' steel soon.

  • i must say i'm not that super excited on how these pelizzolis come out. it's pretty alright, but none of that vintage feel, you know? like a re-make, or modern edition, you know?..

  • I'm guessing most of these won't ever see time on a track

  • My first season i rode steel... did the job fine, I thought. Then last season I rode my alloy Pinarello. The difference is uncompareable. This season i shall be riding carbon.

    And you'll still be shit.

    :P

  • Oversize steel like JayGee's Roberts is much better, but not a touch on alloy or decent carbon.

My first season i rode steel... did the job fine, I thought. Then last season I rode my alloy Pinarello. The difference is uncompareable. This season i shall be riding cheap carbon and will pine for the Pinarello once more.

They stopped making bikes out of steel for a reason.

    ftfy

  • ^Harsh.. He fookin' bought it from me..

  • And you'll still be shit.

    :P

    Bang!

    ftfy

You can kiss my ass....Pinarello's are well gay.

  • spag, I haven't had a season on the track and so have nothing to compare my experience of riding steel on the road vs riding alu on the road. You maybe right. But I'd rather ride the bike I've got first then make the adjustments, and anyway, you and the other track bods are jumping from one material to the other upgrading one season after the next, its an arms race and I don't have the cash or the time to scour here or fleabay looking for a bargain...
plus I like steel. I would ride your carbon thing to see if I like it, but it'd be too small.

    anyway enough derailing..

  • Actually I'm satisfied after having tested my one on track. I'm sure that aluminium and
carbon are better even if I did never test them on track. In any case, racers of the past
had excellent result on steel bikes; anyhow progress went on and new material came
out for improving racers performances and builders' wallets.
Just for info, my Pelizzoli has also oversized tubes, needed especially in consideration
    of the big size.
Finally, I'm not good enough on track for having the need of alu or carbon. I would still
    be slow.

I still beat your skinny arse. Hands down. Every time.

  • youd beat it even harder with ally!
Especially with your fat ass.... you must be bending that frame to it's limits!

  • Chunky rear triangle > my fat arse

  • enough OT!

  • my Pelizzoli, waiting to get chromed, painted and shipped soon!

did they get painted yet, any pics?

  • I'm rather late to this thread - is the lfgss "special price" still open and if so (once I've convinced my good lady that i need another frame) who should I contact?

    many thanks
