Crossed thread

Posted on
  • Because I am a dozy fugger I have crossed the thread on the non drive side crank arm replacing a pedal.

Is there anything I can do other than buy a new one?

    Cheers

  • possibly people would need to know what crank and what length

do you want the same arm or just the same length (with a compatible bb taper)

  • Depending on the pedal thread, then you should be able to get an engineering or bicycle repair shop to put a thread inset in ( helicoil ). This will be only be possible if the correct thread form, pitch and diameter insert is available.

  • well have you done it all the way or just a couple of mil?

if you havent screwed the whole pedal in, crossing all threads and messing it up then phew!

try this: screw the pedal in from the other side, the inner edge, *without *cross-threading (do i need to say this?)
all the way and this should re align your threads. unscrew the pedal, then screw it in on the other (normal/usual) side of the crank. presto
