  • I passed by at about 08:05 this morning, Brixton Road closed both ways from the top end near Kennington Park to Cranmer Road. Twenty or so police there and a load of ambulances. Road taped off, and all traffic cleared apart from a car, bus and petrol tanker which are still parked up. Mangled hybrid lying in the road with a pile of personal belongings. Don't know the situation, looked like it happened quite a while earlier. Hope the cyclist is ok.

  • Saw this about the same time. No blue sheet which was good hopefully. Hope the rider is ok.

  • hope the rider is ok.

  • Right outside the business park I work in (British Transport Police are in it too). Really hope the rider is ok.

  • fingers crossed for whoever was involved.

  • It was a bloody grim start to the morning.
About 8.45am just in front of the Brook centre in Brixton a girl was being put in the back of an Ambulance. She looked OK - well she was hobbling along... there was another guy on a bike with her holiding her helmet and stuff.
THEN, to come across more grimness at Kennington.
    Today doesn't feel good.
I hope everyone is OK and that everyone else remains to be.

  • Passed by another rider down today on Brixton road/Stockwell park.

Female, looked pale and was covered with a black blanket. Others were in attendance so I moved on. I hope she's ok.

I just understand. She's one of the people doing the right thing. Out there excercising, reducing pollution, easing traffic congestion. Why is she being punished for doing what's right? Why are other people being put off from doing what's right? Why is this being allowed to continue to happen to what I consider to be the progressive segment of our society?

Then further down the road I saw the RTA mentioned above.

  • That's the same girl Kattie, glad you said she was ok. Hope for the same for the cyclist further up the road.

  • A collegue at work came in that way this morning and told me about this, he went past before the ambulances turned up

badly broken right leg apparently but he was alive

  • Hope everyone's alright.

I wondered why the traffic was such a zoo this morning.

  • Yeah was rowdy down there today, hope all are ok.

    good news.

sounds like a bleak morning on brixton road tho

  • glad it sounds like both cyclists will be okay, Brixton Rd still closed at the top end.

  • Just went passed myself.

I thought It was a definate death judging by all the items all over the road next to the bike. Thought I saw clothing which I assumed had been cut off my the para's for access. Good to hear it's just a broken leg.

It doesn't surprise me there has been an accident there. I ride past that spot most days and have always thought the road was juts wrong around there. I often beconme weary as I approach that set of lights with the odd cycle lane and bus stops.

I can't believe 2 Omega's works just down the road from me! ;)

    +1 to this sentiment.

    V. glad there are no deaths from these incidents, heal up soon cyclists!

  • ^^ where do you work PF?

  • Spoke to a policeman at the site on brixton road who said the riders leg is mashed. Road was closed all morning. Policeman said that a bus AND a petrol tanker were both involved .

Saw the bike (and photographed it), it had blood on the stays, the saddle was ripped off and the back of the bike was mangled

Wishing the rider a speedy recovery

  • ^ Fuck!

  • ^^^ Who for?

  • Its a bit of a dicky intersection, but the accident seemed to have happened quite a bit before the set of lights; like just in the cycle lane. Left turning tanker?

  • That cycle lane is shit, the surface is shit. But people still bomb down the side...

  • U75 is saying that they were squeezing between a bus and the tanker.

    /takeinternetrumourswithapinchofsalt

  • Anyway, here's hoping they're ok.

  • It sounds like it is going to be a really tough one, my colleague said the guys lower leg was pretty much at a right angle

can't even imagine how hard it would be to recover from that
